I must admit, I haven't actually being collecting them, but...
Lego, famous toy maker, has released a few boxes for both Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies. They started somewhere last year, and couple of boxes include: Helms Deep, Weathertop, Mines of Moria, the Council of Elrond, a corsair ship, the Black Gate, the Tower of Orthanc, Bag End, Goblin King Hall, Mirkwood scenes, and Lake Town. Probably more will come when the last Hobbit movie is released.
As a child I played lots with Legos. And since I like LotR and castles, I couldn't resist to buy that castle of Helms Deep.

My Grandsons, Desi's boys, have LOTR Legos and I bought them some of those. Can't remember which ones exactly but I don't think Helms Deep. I looked it up and the site says it is a retired product. Still they had a picture and it was pretty nice.

Some of the products are indeed already retired. Helms Deep and the Mines of Moria (more specific, Balin's Tomb) were of the first boxes. I expect more to be released though.
The tower of Orthanc looks massive! It's an "expert" builder box, and hard to find in Belgium. More than that, it probably will not fit on my Lego shelf anymore. I'm curious to see if they design something for the White City. Something as big as Helm's Deep was. Such might also be an interesting box...
I was thinking about Desi's boys too lol. It's the perfect toy for kids who like Lego and LotR. They probably would get too spoiled if they would get the entire collection.

I have a Lego version of Gandalf and Frodo in the horse-drawn cart from the beginning of Fellowship. It comes with Frodo's book, a barrel of fireworks, and a carrot for the horse.
My nephew is really into Legos but he prefers Star Wars to Lord of the Rings. He does seem to like the Hobbit movies though.

I Didn't think I was about to bump a very old thread. Though just, err... seconds ago, I found some nice update that is related.

It's preciousss... it'sss pricey... So yes, maybe it's more for the fans of Lego than for those who are just fan of Rivendell... Anyone got kids in the right age to make very happy? (Am I still in the right age?...)

Great to see you!!! I WANT That....for my grandson.... The price is prohibitive, though I will say that if I was rich, I'd love to get it.

Hi Fan! You know me... popping in once every few years. I'm not forgetting you!
"...Here's the deal, my dear grandson... this box, as present for the next 111 years..." As a kid, there were some expensive boxes that I really really really wanted. I started saving the money, slowly, bit by bit, and only a few months later... "oooh, that's a nice box too! It's cheap! I want it."

I would love this, too. Actually all of the LOTR Lego sets. They would have been better to collect than the characters I collected way back when! Also fun to put together.
