It’s that time of year again-Anniversary time! Our group has reached the three year mark and we would love for all of you join us in our Middle-earth Carnival Celebration! We have a great chat weekend planned for all of you in The Prancing Pony Chatroom groups.msn.com/tolkiensring/theprancingponychatroom.msnw which is part of the old MSN site.
So those of you who became members at the original MSN site, dust off your log-ins and passwords and make sure you have the chat tool loaded to your PC so you can gain access to The Prancing Pony! You may want to do that the week before the chat celebration just to be all set and ready to go!
Those who have recently joined Tolkien’s Ring at the new proboards forum, you will need to apply for membership at the old site. It is a simple matter, just click the "Join Now" button at the MSN site: groups.msn.com/tolkiensring and follow the instructions on joining. You will be asked to get an MSN passport (no charge)-information on what it is an how to do that will be provided during the application process. In the application toward the bottom of the form, be sure to mention that you are already a member at the proboards forum and that you want to join us in the 3rd Anniversary Celebration in The Prancing Pony chatroom. There will be a slight wait (a day probably) in which your request for membership will email to the management team and then we will accept your application. Once accepted, go to The Prancing Pony link on the left hand navigation bar of the MSN site and make sure you download the chatroom tool. Then enter The Pony and take a look around!
Let’s recap: The first year was the Marathon chat which was a whole weekend of non-stop chat room gatherings with face painting by TR‘s artist Majah.
Year two had scheduled weekend chats, role-playing, chances to win prizes, and the Pony People Picture done by Stormrider and Majah.
Now for the third year you can have fun all weekend long in the MSN Prancing Pony chatroom (groups.msn.com/tolkiensring/theprancingponychatroom.msnw) by joining the Middle-earth Carnival.
This year we have scheduled topic chats; such as a Start the Weekend with Morning Tea & First Breakfast chat, The Silmarillion chat, The Council of Elrond chat, Set Sail in an Elven Ship chat, The Hobbit chat, Riddles in the Dark chat and a couple of Sight-seeing Middle-earth (role-play) chats!
You do not want to miss the Sight-seeing of Middle-earth chats there is much adventure in store for all that go along on the journey. Our travel guide, Majah, will take us all over ME traveling by all different means of transportation. You can party in the Shire, sit in the Golden Hall of Meduseld, sing in the Hall of Fire, feast in the Prancing Pony, rest in the Golden Wood, even sneak your way into the Black Gate and so much more. Have your picture taken with the Fellowship and many others and visit the souvenir shops along the way! This Sight-seeing is free to all Tolkien’s Ring members at the scheduled time and Majah, the travel guide, will have boarding passes for all.
We did not forget the prizes for this year’s anniversary. This year’s prizes are "Tolkien Fan" buttons. To win is easy every time you arrive at the chatroom your name will be put into a hat and there will be drawings for the prizes. Plus there will be more special prizes!
Also if you were not in in the 2004 Pony People Picture (tolkiensring.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=art&action=display&thread=1105107238) and you would like to be, let either Stormrider (stormrider@owc.net), Majah ( VLJ1930@aol.com) or Desi Baggins (DesiBaggins@yahoo.com) know and we can make it happen. Just make sure we have a picture of you, let us know what ME race you would like to be and tell us your favorite colors.
CHAT TIMES
Saturday January 29, 2005
8am-10am EST: Morning Tea and First Breakfast Chat
This will be the beginning of a wonderful anniversary weekend for Tolkien’s Ring. We may just chat or you never know what might happen once we are all awake and had a bite to eat!
1pm-3pm EST: The Silmarillion Chat
This will be the time to discuss those mind-boggling Sil questions. We hope this will be a helpful chat for those of you that have committed yourselves to reading the Sil this year.
6pm-8pm EST: The Council of Elrond Chat
Join the Council and get to know others in the Tolkien’s Ring Fellowship better. If you like, bring a Tolkien-related topic to discuss at this time. We hope to have a friendly Tolkien topic chat in the safe environment of Rivendell.
11pm-1am EST: Sight-seeing of Middle-earth Chat
Now the real fun will begin. Follow our very own travel guide, Majah, around Middle-earth. She will draw out a place name and departure from a hat to decide where we will start and how we will travel. We will stop at virtual souvenir shops along the way. Here’s the real treat anyone who joins this chat will have their name put into a hat and their name could be drawn to win a real Sight-seeing souvenir from the real Tolkien’s Ring store!
Sunday January 30, 2005
4am-6am EST: Set Sail in the Elven Ship Chat
At this chat we hope to be able to have our oversea members join us (but they can also try and join all the other chats too). We can get to know each other and then let the good times roll! The overseas members can also choose whether they would like to do the Role-Play game or LOTR Movie Trivial Pursuit since the regular chat times might be inconvenient for the overseas group.
9am-11am EST: Sight-seeing Continues Chat
We plan to continue on our adventure and maybe some people that could not make the first time can join us at this one! Majah will be taking us around to more hot spots of Middle-earth via our hat drawing and we can stop at a virtual souvenir shop too! Another specialty will be again putting traveler’s names into a hat and drawing one to win a real souvenir!
2pm-4pm EST: The Hobbit Chat
Gather under the party tree in the Shire and discuss The Hobbit. We hope that those of you participating in the Hobbit Study will enjoy this discussion.
7pm-9pm EST: Riddles in the Dark Chat
At this chat we plan to play LotR movie Trivial Pursuit. Stormrider will be the game master. She will roll the dice and move the spaces on the board to pick the category that the question will be from. If you answer a question right, you receive 1 point. When the chat is done the player with most points wins their choice from the Tolkien’s Ring Store!
