I don't get how this works. I put in my name and city, state, zip and birthday. Then typed in the message the things that I liked. I did not know what the two bars with the dash between them in the lower left corner were for. There really weren't any directions on what to do but I hit the search button and the results came up with nothing.

I did this. It is not hard. You target a snowflake, then respond. Fill out the fields in the message. Then the flakes fall again, and you can view your message by clicking on the flake and review. Not terribly exciting, but cute!

Did you click on Create Your Own Snowflake? Sometimes you have to wait a little (not more than a minute) before everything appears.
Then you hold down your mouse button and move it around to "cut out" shapes.
Once you are finished creating you click on done and then add your name and message (if you want). Then it asks if you want to send it to a friend. I usually choose no thanks and tell my friends to "Find a Flake" ~ (MCDLT from Christmas Town. Or to look at my daughter's AMANDA from Winter Wonderland.)
The two spaces with the dash is to find a specific snowflake number.
I hope this helps a bit more.

I did it! I made two snowflakes, too! The first time when I posted above, I had clicked on "Find a Snowflake" no wonder I couldn't make one of my own!
But I did click on several flakes and they were very pretty and very detailed. Very very pretty.
This was fun! I enjoyed doing this. Thanks, McDLT!

This is great fun... I wondered what this website was about and did some checking. It's a graphic arts firm in my city! Wow... small world.

Glad you're enjoying them. What name did you use - I would love to do a search for your flakes. ;D

I tried doing a search for my own and others flakes, but the server always timed out. With over 300k flakes, the search might never work now. Let me know if anyone has luck with it.

I seem to do okay with searching although occassionaly I've had the server time out. I just reckon it's because it's really busy at the time and wait a little and try again.

I used Magpie. I made so many cuts that they told me to put the scissors down and no one would get hurt. It's been finals week this week and this is like mindless activity that I can use for a break. A bit like Bejeweled but with a prettier outcome.

Both of my snowflakes are under the name of "Stormrider" of course! They both have the same message on them, too.
I got the same message to put down the scissors on my second snowflake, too! Pretty funny!

I wasn't able to get the search function to work and last night I noticed it was 'down for repair'.

I've discovered two neat things about this site. The sky changes color... probably timed with your computer clock. So the sun sets, the sky turns orange then purple then black, I saw the moon last night.
The other thing, if you kind of scribble on the paper. Then scribble some more in a different direction, then keep doing this, you can get a pretty cool lacy effect.
