Good morning or evening Andorinha, you have given me way too much to chew on in various threads. I'll try to keep up! But, please, don't count on it!
Ok, first of all, I proposed other theories on "Time Differential" in Rivendell only because I felt you were assuming that Vilya was a weaker Ring. I am not disputing the possibly weaker personal power of Elrond to that of Galadriel. I thought I had changed "and" to "using" in the following statement: "Vilya and Elrond are less powerful than Galadriel and Nenya." And I probably did change it in the post I lost, then forgot again when I reconstructed it. Previously, in another post I did use the word "using". What I was going for was that power of Elrond/Vilya together equals the power of Galadriel/Nenya.
But, do I believe in those theories I proposed? I believe them to be plausible, but, not defendable in argument. I, also, do not think that whatever distortion of Time Elrond/Vilya uses in Rivendell need be the same as the one Galadriel/Nenya prefers for Lorien. These places serve different functions and it would be best to take advantage of Time in different ways. When I proposed the "frozen" time of Bilbo, I was speaking of the way only Elrond/Vilya's power worked in being able to physically make Time subjective to the individual.
And on later reflection and re-reading the appropriate post of yours, I realized that you were probably right in that it was a perception issue for Bilbo, not a physical one. That's when I came up with my second indefensible theory, the purpose of which was to challenge the assumption that Vilya was weaker.
I certainly made a mistake in using the word "species" while commenting on Desi's theory. I wasn't thinking of the different humanoid species being affected differently. I was thinking of the trees and seasonal changes compared to humanoids lumped together.
Hopefully, I've cleared up more than I confused,
Thanks,
Fan
PS. On to other threads....
