Hi Stormrider - THANKS "a million" for your email (and this posting). I did order the 07 TR calendar last night, and I can not wait to get it! I also forwarded the link to other collectors. As this makes three TR calendars that I have collected, I will create a list for them in the "Country/Society" section of my website for them. And if any members have an old TR calendar "kicking around", I would love to hear from you (and add it to my collection and website!) Assuming that Cafe Press doesn't pull it because of the use of the Valar names, how long do you think it will be listed there? I ask because I will put your link into the listing on my website. Then visitors unknown to me may order it, also. Hopefully, these sales will support the TR forums and group! Thanks very much once again for your personal notification to me! Thank you, Parmastihir! I've already received notice of your purchase and two others! I really appreciate that! We only make $1.00 on each item in the TR store and that money has always gone toward gifts and prizes for our members when we have a special event. It isn't much, but it helps.
(We could mark up the price more if we wished to, but making money was not our intention. We just wanted to provide products our members would enjoy at fair prices. The added $1.00 was just a way to make very little for member prizes)
We hope we can keep the calendar up for sale as long as we can. We hope that the Valar names don't cause a copyright issue and that would be the only thing that would cause us to pull it early.
Thanks again for your purchase and adding Tolkien's Ring to your calendar website in the "Country/Society" section. We are indeed honored!

6 have now sold on the 2007 Valar calendar.
And what do you know! Someone purchased the Prancing Pony Gang wall calendar, too!

I know who purchased the Pony Gang calendar. She's a fellow collector. She sent me the link. I saw the 2006 version posted last year but did not purchase it as I didn't consider it a "Tolkien calendar". But now I'm not sure! Regret is filling my mind! I MUST HAVE MORE CALENDARS!!!! Come back. A madness took me, but it has passed! :-)
In any case, I am more than pleased that TR derives some benefit from the sales. Sheesh! A dollar!?! You create it and Cafe Press derives most of the benefit? I hope that you at least get the satisfaction of seeing your calendar in print. I have toyed with the idea of making one, but have not come up with a concept. Yet you have done several different ones. I think it marvelous!

The Pony Calendar consists of real Tolkien's Ring members and was made to be the entrance art to our Chat Room at the old forum. I believe it is still up, too! It was a lot of fun to create, but it did take some time. Many of the members made comments on what Tolkien-type character they liked or concidered themselves to be and we went off that. The pub that everyone is enjoying themselves in is, of course, The Prancing Pony!

I received an email from CafePress stating that they would be changing the calendars over to the 2008 dates so I have closed out the 2007 Calendars.
The final total sales was 7 for the 2007 TR Member Calendar and 3 for the 2007 Pony People Calendar.
I don't know what we will be doing for 2008 if anything. I know Sparrow wanted another calendar with her Old Man Willow picture included, but Tolkien's Ring members have not been posting any art and we haven't had any contests since the "fury" of Tolkien has diminished. I was working on a picture but it has been set aside for a while due to other activities I'm involved in. I have to put my thinking cap on and decide what we will do.

Hi Stormrider -
Thanks for the totals on the 2007s (will update my website with same) and your thoughts on the 2008s. I await your decision on them. I wish that I could draw. If I can not create a calendar, I'd love to have an illustration in one (as you and Sparrow and others have done).

I often thought it would be fun to create the attire of all the Peoples' of Middle Earth. This would make for a nice calendar! I wish I had time to draw/paint enough of them to make the 2008 calendar. But I hate to have a calendar based on ONLY the art of Stormrider! lol! I like to have other members' art included as well! If anyone is interested, I would love to have your art!

Well for those members that can't draw, we can always put poems or very short stories on the calendar too.....Even if you take a picture of something like a tree or flower and it reminds you of something Middle-earth like you can post it and tell us what it reminds you of and we can put text on the image stating that. So maybe from here out if anyone draws, takes a picture, writes a poem or story of the Peoples of ME we can try to gather stuff for a 2008 calendar. I also like to ask my kids to draw ME things and then I use a filter on their pictures and use those as art for TR!

This could happen after all and that, to me, would seem a good thing. I wish I had had a camera with me in July when I visited California. I was in the desert areas east of Los Angeles (Lucerne Valley area). The mountains and ridges were bare and sharp. I thought immediately of the Mountains of Shadow on the western border of Mordor or perhaps the Morgai inside.
