I like Hobbits, Ents, and Elves the most I think, but then I love Boromir and he's a man. AUGH!!! I will have to come back to this. It is so hard to choose. We need an 'all of the above' choice

My personal favorite are the Elves. They are graceful, beautiful and eternal. Besides, they get to cross over to the Undying Lands. How cool is that!

This was a tough choice...really considered the Elves, mostly for the reasons Electra listed: However, I went with Hobbits in the end; I have a better chance of being a Hobbit than an Elf!

I also chose the Elves... They are my favourite Race, always have been... They're gracious, wise, beautiful, magical, and even a tad bit mysterious... Second come the Dúnadain...

I chose the Humans and feel that it covers ALL humans be they--common, Dúnadain, or Númenóreans! The fight for Middle-earth seems to be left in the hands of the humans to battle against the forces of evil. Although there were a few hobbits, elves, dwarves, and istari among those fighting, the human contingent was the main force!
I have always been drawn to the people of Rohan first of all. Their horsemanship, love of country and king, loyalty, and bravery have always inspired me. Théoden, Éomer, and Éowyn are proof of that.
The Númenóreans I have not read as much about except for the stories in Unfinished Tales. At first they were great peoples and loyal to the gods. As they became jealous of the elves lasting life, they dimmed in my eyes somewhat. However, those who were loyal still ended up in Middle-earth and went to the two kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor. They were still great people but were greatly challenged by Sauron.
From them sprung the Dúnadain. The Dúnadain disquised as rangers kept the peace and they worked toward finding evidence of the One Ring and to uncover Sauron's plans.
The people from Gondor also emerged from the Númenóreans. They were still great people and loyal to their kings and later stewards. The stewards held the land secure as well as they could until the arrival of the king.

Definitely the Elves! The graceful, wise, immortal Elves. They just fascinate me so much, can't help it. Like they've cast a spell on me or something, lol! I'd be thrilled to meet them (like Sam). Too bad it can never happen!

When watching the movie, I still get chills (the good kind. lol) in the extended version at the passing of the Elves, and then later when Aragorn says... "To Rivendell Master Gamgee. To the house of Elrond." And Sam says. "You hear that? We're going to see the elves."
Yes, there is something altogether graceful and beautiful and mysterious about them. They are like man at near perfection, or something. lol

It was very tempting to vote Dragons. I absolutely love Dragons. But I don't like them as Tolkien had put them. I have a very different view on the creatures of fire. So, as this is about Middle-earth, I voted for the Elves. They are a fair, wise and powerful race. They have had a great part in the forming of Middle-earth, and brought much knowledge to it.

Smaug was a very interesting Dragon. He was crafty and sly and greedy. I have not read too many other stories about Dragons and I thought most stories were similar in describing them. Orgulas, what books have you read that changes this image?
Well, I can't help admiring the Elves, too. They are graceful, wise, beautiful, magical, gracious, mysterious, and immortal as many of you have stated above! And as Illadria mentioned how the movie scenes depicted them and sent chills up her spine shows how everyone else described them in words.
The Hobbits are also loveable, loyal, fun loving, earthy, and cheerful. Who can't help but love them!
I have accumulated a lot of respect and admiration for the Dwarves, too. They are tough, sturdy, hardworking, strong, and fine artisans. I would trust my back to a Dwarf!
Doing the art on the Valar has made me appreciate these entities, too. Their individual talents created Arda! Wow! That's a great undertaking!
The Ents are very interesting and mysterious. They seem to hide and stay secluded until they were shook up! It would be good to have an Ent for a friend rather than an enemy!
Orcs! Yikes! These twisted Elves are not likeable at all! But I can't help but feel sorry for them. Melkor/Morgoth really messed with them...Well, hey! Some race has to be the bad guys!
But still the humans are my favorite for the reasons I stated above.
It is a hard decision to make!

Storm: You should read Eragon by Christopher Paolini & you will change your mind about dragons. Read it soon because the second of the trilogy comes out later this month! Vanye
