What are your thoughts on Thorin's last words? Would you have been as kind as Bilbo or would you have acted differently?

Thorin realizes that there is more to life than gold, silver, and gems and he tells Bilbo that. Thorin also tells Bilbo that there is much good in Bilbo with courage and wisdom blended in! Thorin wishes more people valued food, cheer, and song above hoarded gold because it would make a happier world.
Bilbo has come to love Thorin despite his lust for getting his home and hoard back. I think Bilbo is very happy to hear Thorin say there is more to life than gold. Bilbo is sad that it took a great battle and mortal wounds for Thorin to realize that.
I was happy when I read Thorin's last words, too. I was very willing to forgive Thorin and sad that he realized what he did so late to enjoy that way of life. But at least he did and I was glad of that.

Yeah, seems almost like a sort of "death bed" repentance on Thorin's part, maybe things would have worked out better had he come to this realization about a hundred years earlier?
