After you raid the garden...show us what you will create to whet the appetite! (As if Hobbit's appetites needed wheting?) Make sure your snacks have a Middle-earth "flavor"!

I can Imagine Rosie serving something like this to The hobbits that came for Ale And or dinner....A light treat that can stand alone as an appetizer, or could also make a great substitution for crackers in soup
Rosie's Cheese and Herb Pretzels
1c. all purpose flour 2 tbls. grated Parmesan Cheese 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder 1/4 tsp. Dry Basil 1/4 tsp. Rosemary 1/4 tsp. oregano leaves 4 oz. Butter 4 oz. shredded cheddar cheese 2 1/2 tbls. cold water
Take a large bowl and stir together the Flour,Parmesan cheese, basil,Rosemary, Garlic powder,,and Oregano, then use a pastry blender to cut inthe butter, until the mixture resembles fine crumbs........( If you dont have a pastry blender, You can also cut in an ingredient using 2 knives).. Then stir in the cheddar cheese.sprinkle water over the mixture ,1 tbls. at a timestir in until the mixture/dough holds together..Then gather the dough into a ball, with you (CLEAN<<<LOL) hands..Cut into half, and then divide each half into 12 equal pieces..
NOTE:If the dough is soft.wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm
Rol the pices out on a lightly floured board , then you can twist or shape them as you will..Place slightly apart on un-greased baking sheets..Bake at 425 degrees until golden brown.(12 - 15 minutes) Let cool and serve
ENJOY RM

Brandied Blue Cheese Spread

Combine in your food processor, or mixing bowl, blue cheese, Butter, Creamed cheese, and Brandy.. You want this smooth and well-blended . Cover and chill until next day..Let stand at room temperature for about one hour before serving.. Enjoy...RM

Farmer Maggots fields are renowned for the fresh vegetables they produce. No wonder many of us Hobbit lads spend our time planning raids so we are not bitten by his vicious curs. On a recent expedition, Fatty Bolger and I came upon a most delightful crop of scallions. Let me share with you what we did with them......
Mies en plas: 2-3 bunches of THIN scallions, root and leaf trimmed and skinned 2 tubs of whipped cream cheese several packages of assorted shaved meats (my favorites are pastrami and corned beef...but pick your favorites)
Layout a piece of shaved meat, and spread heavily with cream cheese. Roll the tips of the scallions up, leaving a short, trimmed green handle. Arrange a platter with assorted meats and drizzle with black and pimento olives.
I have never had to discard a platter of these, as the dishes are usually wiped clean. They may look intimidating at first, but get a hungry hobbit to try one, and they are hooked.
Enjoy Fang
