WOW!!! THANKS STORMRIDER, I think I GOT it!!! # | name | when | description | outcome | 1 | (no name given) | After Morgoth returned from Valinor, but before the Noldor had arrived. | Morgoth sent a sudden onslaught of orcs. Cirdan was cut off, and Thingol surrounded. Denethor, of the green elves, came to Thingol's rescue, but was killed. Morgoth's forces destroyed. | Doriath fenced. The green elves decide that they will not fight in the battles anymore, but withdraw into themselves. | 2 | Dagor-nuin-Giliath (Battle Under the Stars) | AfterFeanor reached Middle Earth, before the moon had risen and before Fingolfin had completed the crossing of the Helcaraxe. | Morgoth assailed Feanor, before the newly arrived Noldor had a chance to prepare any defenses. Nevertheless, Morgoth's forces were utterly defeated. Feanor, pursuing his fleeing enemies, was slain. | Morgoth offered a false surrender, and Maedros was taken captive. Kingship of the Noldor ultimately passes to Fingolfin. | 3 | DagorAglareb (The Glorious Battle) | After the Noldor have settled. (About 50 years after the rising of the sun.) | A sudden assault by Morgoth, who thought the Noldor were confused and wandering. His forces were completely destroyed. | The Noldor learned to be wary, and kept watch on Angband for more than 400 years. | 4 | Dagor Bragollach (Battle of Sudden Flame) | About 400 years after the Dagor Aglareb, 455 years after Fingolfin arrived in Middle Earth. | Great rivers of fire were sent out from Angband, burning all the land around it. Great forces, including the full grown dragon, Glaurung, fell upon the Noldor. Fingolfin challenged Morgoth to single combat, and was slain by him. | Siege of Angband broken, and battle never fully ceases again. Fingon becomes king of the Noldor. Finrod swears an oath of friendship to Barahir and his kin, because they rescued him. |
I see where some of the text might be better "closed-up," but I can do that later, right now -- I'll take a break!

Andorinha:
Awesome! You did good! I'm glad my explanations and code samples helped.
I got really good at the tables, too, while doing the ROTK study.

I am finally finished with the ROTK study except for transferring the quizzes which I will do later. I want to try to post them in the meat of the threads instead of using the quizmaker which isn't working properly anymore. I guess I will do an answer thread as well.
The TTT Study is much easier to transfer here! It is going rather quickly since I don't have to transfer any pictures to the photobucket album and then set up tables to paste their code into (tables for the multiple pictures posted in one thread, that is!)

KOOL, glad to hear TTT is moving more smoothly, Stormrider! Finally got the chart procedure down whereby the gaps in text are closed up, final production: # | name | when | description | outcome | 1 | (no name given) | After Morgoth returned from Valinor, but before the Noldor had arrived. | 5 | Nirnaeth Arnoediad (Unnumbered Tears) | Seems to be within 20 years of Dagor Bragollach, because it is partly inspired by Beren’s success. | Maedhros decided to unite the forces of the Noldor and attack Morgoth. Fingon attacked from the west, joined by Turgon and the forces of Gondor. The sons of Feanor attacked from the east. Because of his spies, Morgoth knew of their plans. Because of treachery, the Noldor were defeated. | Fingon killed – Turgon became king. Havens destroyed, and Cirdan fled to the Isle of Balar. Many men of the kindred of the elf friends killed, including Huor. Hurin captured, and his family cursed by Morgoth. |

Awesome job you two!
i know i made it entirely more work on myself. i really worked at cleaning up and organising the study and maybe i made it harder on myself than it needed to be?
i also have a table i may build and a couple of outside threads that i will add but essentially i am done!
i did have a thought and i am going to do that next. i am going to go through and just copy the list of all the MSN threads because they will have dates attached. i will keep it as a referral chart so that if i need to find something in the Multipy copies, i will at least have a start date to reference. kind of a wierd table of contents but i think it may help?
i wanted to tranfer the riddle thread (it's loooong)and i need to double check more of the art stuff. i think i will need to work on some links that reference the MSN photo albums?
next Monday school starts again so i will be limited in my posting time again! M

Stormrider, here are the missing images/ chart problems left for the Beowulf Study:
1. Chart Problems with a "weird" chart by Slade in "Fact or Fiction" -- message 6.
2. Chart problem with a "weird" chart by Slade in "Fact or Fiction" message 8.
3. Image needs to be transferred "Beowulf Art" -- I have URL on TR page here.
4. Image not transferred "Lines 1385 - 1819" message 7.
5. Missing messages 2-7? "Tolkien's Article on Beowulf" message 1 which seems to be an old edit/ transfer by Stormrider?
THANKS!!!

OOOOOooooo!!! YES! That is an absolutely FIRST CLASS idea! A reference/chronological chart to act as a sort of index -- NEAT!
THANKS!!!

Andorinha: I've printed out your list and will look at it tonight. Last night I didn't do anything here since I had drill team practice and then watched the season premier of LOST! which I recorded. I was up til 12:30am! ;D
Majah: That's a Great Idea to mark down the topics and their dates so we can find them again at Multiply. Thanks! I wonder if I can help in some way with certain forums after I finish Andorinha's list and the TTT study.

Andorinha:
1. I copied the chart to Word and will work on it and post it in its correct place (message 6) on the thread when I get it done. I scanned the word document into a jpg and loaded it to photobucket and then inserted it into message 6 -- mission accomplished
2. I copied the chart to Word and will work on it and post it in its correct place (message 8) on the thread when I get it done. I scanned the word document into a jpg and loaded it to photobucket and then inserted it into message 8 -- mission accomplished
3. I managed to fix the broken link and it took me to a thread on the Beowulf study. I saved the picture and will post it on the Beowulf Art thread here with the link to Slade's site. Mission Accomplished
4. I retrieved the picture of Grendle's Ma and loaded it to photobucket so, I will put it in its proper place in Message 7 of Lines 1385-1819 Mission Accomplished
5. Here are the missing messages. They seem to be the first messages to the "Intro to Beowulf & Syllabus" Thread. I clicked previous message on message 8 of 12 and it took me to these. You may already have posted these in the intro thread here so these probably are not relevant to the "Tolkien's Article on Beowulf" Thread.

From: Zauber in response to Message 1 Sent: 10/17/2002 11:15 AM Message 3 of 12 in Discussion Welcome to the Beowulf Study! I need to make an addition to the Introduction. I suggested reading "Why Read Beowulf?" by Robert F. Yeager. The web address is:www.neh.gov/news/humanities/1999-03/yeager.html I will be posting various threads on subjects and themes I found of interest; please feel free to post your own threads as we proceed!! Happy reading! Zauber From: Zauber in response to Message 3 Sent: 10/17/2002 12:17 PM Message 4 of 12 in Discussion We'll start officially posting for the Beowulf study on Monday; the threads so far are just to give you more things to think about. From: Glorfindle in response to Message 4 Sent: 10/17/2002 8:52 PM Message 5 of 12 in Discussion Should you need resources for Beowulf, printed or on Multi-media, please access the new list called "Beowulf and Tolkien Inspiration". Should you need a tome not listed, send me the data, and I will post how to get it. Glor
From: Zauber in response to Message 5 Sent: 10/18/2002 6:57 AM Message 6 of 12 in Discussion Neat-o, Glor! I have the David Wright, Seamus Heaney, and Burton Raffel editions of Beowulf. I highly recommend the Seamus Heaney book! MusicMom told me about that one, and it is wonderful. Now, I am tempted to get the audio tapes!!Thanks for these links, Glor. Zauber
From: Amaranth in response to Message 5 Sent: 10/19/2002 3:09 AM Message 7 of 12 in Discussion Thanks, Glor and Zauber! Everything's hunky-dory. Links are working, Slade's hypertext is very helpful and, shock of shocks, I actually understand Heaney's translation! Most of it, anyway. I love the kennings: "whale road" means "sea" and such. You can delete this if you want. Just wanted you to know I'm here and it's all good. Diana

Ack! This is not going to transfer very well! The straight lines changed to weird symbols when I submitted this to post! I don't have alt+ number code to make the o with the u-ish mark over it either. Andorinha: Your attempt at transferring this chart over to the message looked much better than what I just attempted above!

This is better but we are missing the lineage links that were made with the lines that changed into weird symbols. I know! I will scan these and make them jpgs and post them that way!

WooHoo!!!
Thanks for cleaning up all the loose-ends on Beowulf, the charts look KOOL!
Yeah, the missing messages don't need to be there, so I made a note to that effect on the "Article" topic.
You ROCK, Stormrider!

Aw! shucks! You make me blush--but thanks! ;D My internet connection is veeeeery slooooow tonight so I am not going to post anything for TTT study tonight. I will give it 24 hours to see if it gets better. and...I did find the Adv in ME saved to my pc in its entirety (well as far as we got with it anyway) so eventually I will post it all over here, too. After TTT study is transferred, I think I will go peruse the other forums and see if there is anything really discuss-worthy over there that I want to bring over here and post into an appropriate forum.

OMG OMG OMGyou two are going to strangle me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! last night i worked myself into a depression because the more threads i followed to transfer, the more there was that i wanted. i have bummed about it all day and was resuming my session tonight when i went into Multiply to check on how i should organize my contents list... i cannot believe we did not see this...or at least i didn't? if you look at the tiny words under the main logo, they are links to the message boards...AND when you click on the name of the 'blog' entry you want to read, the WHOLE THREAD APPEARS UNDER IN ORDER!!! i am still just sick that i did not go into the threads that far when i was checking them out!!! so while i am pleased to have our major studies transferred over...(it is still really combersome to follow the thread on MULTIPLY) i think we can probably rest our efforts. i am still trying to find out if our document files transferred but those will be easier to transfer than all the Role Plays etc... i am soooooo sorry to you two because you have worked SO hard on this project. i will have a clearer report to you in the morning on the status of Multiply but i just HAD to share this right now... Well, don't blame yourself, Majah. I should have seen that but didn't either. I didn't even try to click on any of the blogs to see how they worked. So don't beat yourself up over it. It was rather nice seeing and reading the studies again. Anyway, I feel better that the studies are all over here (well, almost all over here--I still have Algy's weeks 6 and 7 discussions left to finished TTT). I do want to bring Adv in ME over here, too. But I guess we can rest assured now that Multiply is more organized than we thought! ;D
