Here's a though-provoking subject....
I've always wondered, what is it like to be an elvish spirit in the Halls of Mandos. I know as humans, most people think about what happens in their after-life...visions of a christian heaven, re-incarnation, etc. Is there any literature about what Tolkien thought happens in the Halls?
I mean, is the spirit able to interact with the other spirits, like most people think happens in Heaven? Or are they doomed to wander alone, not recognizing friends or family members who have gone before them, only being able to interact with Mandos and other Vala?
I would like to know what you all think (or hope) happens in the Halls of Mandos.
Personally, I'm hoping that with such fiery and sage spirits, they are NOT imprisoned in a solitary eternity, until the end.

This is a really interesting question. I had never considered that question before. It has been a while since I read the Silmarillion and I would like to scan through some books to see if I discover any answers to your questions.
