I want to briefly define a "Discussion Topic" for the purposes of this study.
In a few minutes, I will be posting the initial Discussion Topics for the Week One assignment. These topics are composed of issues ot themes that I found particularly interesting during my read of the assignment. Therefore, do not assume that they are "all-inclusive" as far as the important events are concerned.
The Discussion Topics will vary in format ... some may be presented as open-ended questions ... others as commentary. I do not consider myself to be an "expert" in the field of Tolkienology ... so there are no right or wrong responses. I invite comments on any of the Topics that will be presented.
Who gets to post Discussion Topics?
We all do! The only thing I ask is that everyone hold off on posting original Topics until I have posted the initial batch. I will post new Topics on each Monday of the course study. After they are posted, feel free to add additional Topics. Be sure to keep Topics named using the same conventions I present. This is for organizational purposes.
I hope this clears up the subject of "Discussion Topics". If you have any addtional questions, please post them here or email me. Thanks and let's get started!
