Hmmm, yeah, just how old were the children when Mum and Dad died? There is an extended version of the appendices, in HOME vol XII, I'll check there -- it sometimes has bits of useful information left out of the 1956 and 1965 editions.
At any rate, I'd think Aragorn and Arwen would have felt the need to have children sooner rather than later, so Eldarion might have been solidly into his first hundred years of life by the time he lost his parents...

I looked in Peoples of Middle Earth and didn't find anything about the birthdates for Aragorn and Arwen's children. But I think they would have had children sooner rather than later. The book does mention that the life span did start to wane so that this line eventually matched the length as those of other people.
I would have thought that Aragorn, already being long lived with the elf/man combination, and Arwen who was an elf would have kept the long life span of their offspring affective for a longer time.
But was Arwen changed into normal human right away as soon as she made her decision to wed Aragorn? Was Luthien still an elf when she and Beren had children? What about Earendil and Elwing? At what stage of a relationship does the elf turn into human? Did Elwing make her choice to become Human before or after she had Elros and Elrond?
