From: Lord_Algamesh (Original Message) Sent: 11/29/2002 10:03 PM Saruman speaks his distrust of Gandalf and offers the following analysis of Gandalf's "plots": "Later!" he cried, and his voice rose to a scream. "Later! Yes, when you also have the Keys of Barad-dur itself, I suppose; and the crowns of the seven kings, and the rods of the Five Wizards ..." I would like to use this thread to collect our communal knowledge about the "Crowns of the Seven Kinds" & the "Rods of the Five Wizards". Feel free to use any sources you would like and also offer any commentaries that may come to mind on why these objects are so important in Saruman's mind. * * * From: Glorfindle Sent: 11/30/2002 5:45 AM I cannot comment on the crowns of the 7 kings, but Sauron must of felt he had the ability to take or influence the 5 Istari and thier staffs. Melkor in his evilness was still the most powerfull of his kind. Maybe these entities become evil because they recognize their ability is greater than others? Glor
