June 23, 2004 Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is where all of Professor Tolkien's manuscripts for his works are located. Desi and I have our registration and hotel booked already!
The Conference reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Milwaukee City Centre for those planning to attend the conference. The conference rate is $79 and the number to call is 414-273-2950.
If anyone could make this conference, it would make a great Tolkien's Ring gathering! Who else is planning to go? We would love to meet up with you!
I can hardly wait to see Tolkien's artwork at the Haggerty Museum of Art and to look at the archives again! Desi hasn't seen them yet! She is in for a treat!

Perhaps one of our artistically gifted members could make a badge or some other identifier so that we can all recognize each other?

Or we could all agree to buy one the the Tolkien's Rings shirts or hats.....

Well, those are both great ideas! Of course, if we all purchased a TR hat or shirt, the profit would go toward more prizes for our members!
Perhaps we could make one special just for the Tolkien Conference with [glow=red,2,300]Tolkien's Ring[/glow] emblazoned boldly across the shirt or hat!
Of course, I believe we have all seen pictures of each other posted on the site in the albums so that will help, too!

I like the idea of a special design...maybe an art contest for the design? (easy for me to say, what with my utter lack of artistic ability ) That way, we could have shirts, hats, totes, whatever... Plus, anything that can promote awareness of this site is a good thing, right?

Hilary, Zauber, Sparrow, (Olórie?):
Desi and I are planning on bringing the "LOTR Monopoly" and "LOTR Trivial Pursuit" games with us for Thursday and/or Friday night's entertainment.
Of course, each day looks very full, so who knows how we will feel at the end of the day!
We can play it by ear on what happens after the conference is done each day (by about 4:30pm).

This week is the Conference and there are seven of us in our group--Hilary, Zauber, Magpie, Lisa, Nancy, (these two are from another site--is that DaleAnn's Reading Tolkien's Middle Earth, Hil?) Desi, and Stormrider. There are over 250 people registered for the conference!
The fun starts on Thursday night, with an introductory talk by Dr. Arne Zettersten and the viewing of the manuscripts! All day on Friday and Saturday are the speakers, and Friday night Verlyn Flieger will host a discussion on LOTR with audience interaction at our hotel. Saturday night is the Bree Banquet.
My bags are already packed and I am ready to go!
