Andorinha . . . You have been so obsessed with getting good steeds for your characters in LOTRO, I thought I would fix Andy up with a good little war horse. ;D Zonk . . . he can really zonk out his opponents but I don't know how good he will be as far as camoflage goes. ha ha! I was quickly peruzing the past Adv in ME threads looking for the name of DA's little sorrel horse (I did catch the color at least) and just couldn't see it. Heck, I didn't want to all out and out read it all over again completely so hoped to find the horse's name zooming up and down the page. I better keep looking. And we could use a wizard on our side. I had hoped to excite Majah about joining us and tried contacting her on Facebook, but she just doesn't answer me there so I guess she doesn't want to play. She could be wandering around in ME painting the scenery in vibrant colors since she was the purple wizardess (or was it godess) of art on the forum. sigh.

Message 6 written by Rivers had DaleAnn go out and get a couple of mares for themselves, a chestnut and an ebony that Rivers named "Sally." But I don't see a name for DA's horse.
Message 29 written by AnnieLT mentioned DA's horse was a sorrel and that was what I saw. I will go back and change my last post to make the mare a chestnut which is a bit darker than a sorrel and has a darker mane, too. Both are on the brownish red side.
I fixed my last entry to say "chestnut mare" so that is fixed. Let's see Desi and DA both have chestnut mares but Melony has a large white blaze down her face. Storm is brown with an almost black mane and a tannish muzzle and little white socks. And Andy has the infamous Zebron black and white striped war horse! and we also have a pack pony that Andy is leading. Someone else can give it a color and a name! It can't be Rivers' ebony mare, Sally, either since he and Algy went missing and most likely took their own steeds.

Good research on the mounts, Stormie!
Think I'll have something to add soon, will give Fan another day or two...

That sounds like a plan, Andy! Give Fan a couple days and if she doesn't write something, then you go ahead.

I don't know about wanting to help Gandalf fight the Balrog, but I sure would love to ride with the Rohirrim alongside Éowyn and Merry and help them fight the Witchking.

Fan:
What is Dale Ann's horse's name anyway? Did you ever name it?

Hmm, how do we get into Moria? Unless we get in ahead of Frodo and party, the Watcher will be waiting, all aroused and angry, and the west gate will have been buried... So we have to enter before the gates are ruined, or, maybe we can keep the ponies and try the Redhorn Pass. The snows stopped Gandalf and gang "deliberately," but maybe it will let us pass? Third option, we ride the way Boromir wanted to go, south to Gap of Rohan?

Lady (in Red) sounds like an excellent name for your chestnut mare, Fan. I like it. I've got some ideas on how to get around the Watcher and the buried West-door but I will be taking liberties and using tricky methods to do that! Not sure if I want to say more cuz it might spoil my surprises. muhahahaha! Oh! and not to mention the cracked crosswalk where Gandalf and Durin's Bane fought! How do we cross that? Oo! oo! I know! We could follow Gollum out! There is nothing in the books on how Gollum gets out! We may have to climb some precarious places to follow him, but we could do it! Gollum is very tricksy. But trying the Redhorn Pass (I think it was a trick of Saruman to make it impassable for The Fellowship) or going south as Boromir suggested would put Stormrider and Desi at ease about having to part with their horsies. How important would it be to keep following The Fellowship? Would we be able to get into Lothlorien? It would be fun to look into the phial of Galadriel not to mention just meeting those Elves. Desi was shocked at how fast the three of us posted to the story once we got going again. She is very busy at work and planning a vacation get away with a friend to Cancun this Thursday through Sunday and says that Fan/DA should go ahead and post and just skip Desi because she won't be able to contribute right now.

We could slip in ahead of the Fellowship, as Andy suggests. But, once we're in there, I don't exactly know how to keep out of their way. We could reach the bridge before the Balrog and Gandalf. Then again, do we really want to go in there? I have an idea about the horses if we do. Just where is Shadowfax at that moment? Maybe he heard that Storm was looking for him? He could lead them around to the exit. Or maybe he could lead all of us...?
Or we'll go with whatever Stormy has brewing. We'll just write the lead up and let her take it from there.
We've got a little time to figure that out. We're just a few hours out of Rivendell. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok, I'll take a turn. Give me a day to think of some trouble for us to get into. Of course, it will be Andy's fault... Fan

And on foot, it took The Fellowship 21-22 days to get to the West-door. I suppose when they try the Redhorn Pass we could pass them up on horseback. I still don't see a good way for the horses to pass through Moria with the endless stairs and passages. Horse can climb and descend steps but there are so many of them. And crossing the bridge of Kazadum might be very hazardous. Isn't it a wooden swinging type bridge?
Well, I was going to have Shadowfax appear with Bill the Pony as we leave go of our mounts. It would be Storm's dream come true because that was why she came to ME in the first place. Then Shadowfax could lead them all toward Lotholorien and the East-door area. However, they might not make as good time (only Shadowfax is a swift Meara) as we do cutting through Moria unless we get hopelessly lost in there! eeeek!

Great minds think alike? It did take the Fellowship a long time to get to Moria. According to Strachey's Journeys of Frodo Atlas they averaged 10 miles a day. I think we might be able to go...I'll finish this thought in my addition to the story. Hee, hee. Fan

Shadowfax is only a small part of my tricky ideas to get us into Moria! And the big secret I am keeping mum on until we get down between the Hollin Ridge and the Redhorn Pass. ;D Wasn't there a thread here where we discussed how fast horses and ponies could go in Middle Earth? Depending on which gait they are using. A walk is usually best but trotting and loping will get us places faster. If we stay behind The Fellowship, we will need events to delay our progress somewhat! Of course, if we do decide to beat The Fellowship to Moria (say when they side pass into the Redhorn Pass), we already know the "password" and can get into the West-door quickly without disturbing the Watcher and having the door stoned up by it. Then we wouldn't need my tricky ideas to get inside! But I could use my tricky ideas for another time or for other uses. ;D

I suppose we could use alittle poetic license if we choose not to go through Moria by having the horses go faster (if we end up through the Gap of Rohan). Fan
