Well, BBCA is offered by Dish but I have not paid for it. I did see some advertisements for Dr. Who--the new season--coming to America; but if I can't get BBCA, how did I see those advertisments for it? Were they on the SCYFY channel? Freddie: The last episode of the American Being Human took place (partially--a flashback) in Canada. I assume that there are vampires all over the world but I can't recall that they have mentioned it specifically. (However, with my hearing, I might have missed it ) There is an Amish clan of Vamps in the American version and they hang upside down from rafters in an old barn and rarely come out at all. There was also a scene where the Werewolf (Josh) goes back home (after being gone for 2 years) and Vamps attempt to kill his family--but they were more interested in his Vamp friend (Aidan) and killing him. I am really beginning to like the Brit TV shows. I started watching Brit TV with the show with Dominc Monaghan when he was a teen and he worked for a lady detective--forgot the name of it. But it was really good. Then Being Human with Aidan Turner. Wonder how much more it would be per month to get BBCA!

That show is called "Hettie Wainthorpe Investigates" & the lady (whose name escapes me at the moment ) is in the Brit Com "Keeping up Appearances" which is very funny! I watch no American network series but I do watch British series where ever I can find them. 8^)

RE Stormrider: "Well, BBCA is offered by Dish but I have not paid for it. I did see some advertisements for Dr. Who--the new season--coming to America; but if I can't get BBCA, how did I see those advertisments for it? Were they on the SCYFY channel?" Hmm, I don't have BBC either, but think I saw adverts for it, including Dr. Who on the local PBS station. One Brit series (or was it a joint venture with Ireland?) was Ballykissangel, had a lot of fun with that one. Ancient now, is the Herriot series "All Creatures Great and Small," don't know if it is still available, maybe in the library VHS vaults. Would not mind seeing some of its episodes again, nice, wholesome, very little violence, unless you count that done to animals in the surgery? Does anyone remember a Brit sci fi series about a man who died, but they had his head in a jar of greenish fluid all wired up so his memories could be retrieved and viewed, seem to think it was "Stone Cold Lazarus?" I'll google that... Ah, got it, just "Cold Lazarus," with Albert Finney, from wikipedia: Cold Lazarus is a four-part British television drama written by Dennis Potter with the knowledge that he was dying of cancer of the pancreas.
It forms the second half of a pair with the television serial Karaoke. The two serials were filmed as a single production by the same team; both were directed by Renny Rye and feature Albert Finney as the writer Daniel Feeld. The plays were unique in being co-productions between the BBC and Channel 4, something Potter had expressly requested before his death. The show was first aired on Channel 4 in 1996 on Sunday evenings, with a repeat on BBC1 the following day. ... Both Karaoke and Cold Lazarus were released on DVD from Acorn Media in September 2010.

I was watching just regular TV channels last night ABC NBC etc. and they were advertising Dr. Who on BBCA which is Channel 135 for me.
I watched the HBO first episode of A Game of Thrones with Sean Bean last night. It is from that series Fire and Ice by George R. R. Martin that I read and mentioned on the Good Books thread as one to read. IT seems Game of Thrones will be on every Sunday night on HBO until that book is done...I hope they continue with all the books in the series on HBO.
Oh yes, Hettie Wainwright...how could I forget! Ballykissangel sounds interesting and so does Cold Lazarus. Don't forget about the old Monty Mython show Faulty Towers that used to be on, too.

I watched Game of Thrones as well (I believe the book series is called A Song of Ice and Fire). Not sure what I think of it yet. It was very well done but I wasn't seeing many characters to latch onto. Most of them seemed to be rather amoral bastards or manipulated doormats. I like Sean Bean but I'm not sure if that's just because he's Boromir or because I liked his character on the show.
Hopefully, once they develop the characters in future episodes, I'll relate to more of them.

Yes, The Song of Ice and Fire is the name of the entire series. What you saw on HBO was only a tiny portion of the entire book--no time to really develop the characters for you yet. Many of them are very decadent characters in this book! It is a very cut throat tale and the characters are all out for themselves. They did the episode very well and it is true to the book so far. My favorite characters in the book are Bran Stark, Arya Stark, Jon Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, and Tyrion Lannister. Although I like Sean Bean, Eddard (Ned) Stark is an okay character but not one of my favorites. It is too early for you to decide on favorite characters yet but since I have read the books, I know how they develop. Then there are the character you love to hate: Cersei Lannister-Baratheon and Jaime Lannister (the Twins), Joffrey Lannister, Viserys Targaryen, and many others that you haven't even met yet! The King, Richard Baratheon, is just a slob. Here is a helpful link to the story with lots of links on the characters, the making of the HBO mini series, etc. www.makinggameofthrones.com/ In the Viewers' Guide viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/#!/map/, it gives you the family trees and a map of the land

Thanks for the URLs, Stormrider.
Thought this story plot sounded familiar, and the Sean Bean involvement clinched it. Apparently this is showing on Telemundo, Spanish Language channel, as I saw about half an hour worth's two or three days ago. Didn't like the CGI background, too dark, no colours, but as they were fighting strange creatures in a forest/ swamplike environment, maybe it was meant to be dark? LOL, I miss technicolor.
Did not stick with it long enough to get a sense for the story, may try it a bit later, perhaps I'll read the book first.

There are 5 books in the series called a Song of Ice and Fire. A Game of Thrones is the first book and George R. R. Martin is finally getting around to getting the fifth book published this year.

Thank You, Stormrider. I checked out this series on Amazon.com, looks very good, has a lot of rave reviews, think I'll get a used copy of volume 1 and try it out.
