Perhaps we can use some of the words that have been translated in this poem and use them in our deciphering of the tapestries and monument plaques at Twizzle's house.

I thought perhaps we should continue our Anglo Saxon, Old English, Tolkien Rune, tapestry conversation here since this forum pertains to JRRT's Languages! Twizzle has another challenge for Andy/Holdo. This time the runes in her letter spell out the Anglo Saxon words (not our modern English words)! I know I know! You probably want to play LOTRO instead! LOL! Again, I used this RUNE CHART:www.lunasgrimoire.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/alphabet_seaxwica_runes.jpgRemember this is with the AS OE spelling! There was no rune for the letter ð so I kind of drew arrows to those letters to point them out. I will also type out the words in AS after you decipher these runes. Do you know any AS to translate? If not, I will write out in modern English what Twizzle said. It is pretty funny! (But she is VERY SERIOUS about it!) GOOD LUCK!

Sandwen is going out and earning tokens to get the last two of Twizzle's tapestries for her house.

Still working on your latest… some words are fairly easy, others do not show up on the translator, grrr.

The rune translation or the translation from OE to NE? I put all the words in and they translated back alright. You used this one, right? Maybe my rune writing was not easy to read and you put the wrong letter down? www.oldenglishtranslator.co.uk/

Hmm, I must be mis-reading some of the runes then. "uthwita," "blaecharn," "larbau" come up "unknown" in this translator… "Apullian," which I thought would be unknown, actually did show up as part of verb "to pull." I like "Bebrecan," "spoil by breaking!" I thought "runstaf" would be easy, but the translator does not find it for me…
I'll give it another go!

To pull and spoil by breaking are correct!
For blaecharn are you using the ae that are squished together? You have to use those wierd letters. not th but that o with an x over it. You need one of those alt charts. Alt + 0240 types one of the wierd letters. Hmmm...runstaef should be there. With the squished together ae.
If you go further down the link below, it says how to tpye them.

ic leornung betera mid runstæf larboc min writingfeðer bebrecan ic apullian rihtlic cicen feðer for min blæchorn ic gad weaxbred awritan min runstæf ic beon uðwita
I assume that OE follows the same type of sentence structure a ME: noun verb / adjective noun / adverb verb etc. I didn't try to figure out the verb tenses or plurals either since I have no clue!
leornung Strong Feminine Noun learning reading study meditation discipleship
Old English betera Modern English better
rúnstæf Masculine Noun - irregular ending letter runic letter rune
lárbóc Feminine Noun - irregular ending (-béc/-béc) book containing instruction (used of St. Paul’s Epistles and Bede’s Works)
wrítingfeÞer Strong Feminine Noun A pen
bebrecan Strong sv/t4 to break to pieces
ápullian Weak wv/t2 to pull
rihtlic Strong adjective 1. right just (I was looking for correct/perfect -- this may mean right in a just way)
cicen Neuter Noun - irregular ending chicken
Old English feðer Modern English feather wings
blæchorn Strong Neuter Noun ink-horn (I was looking for ink well)
gád Strong Neuter Noun lack want need desire
weaxbred Strong Neuter Noun -u a table tablet for writing on writing-tablet
áwrítan Strong sv/t1 to write write down describe compose mark inscribe draw carve copy
rúnstæf Masculine Noun - irregular ending letter runic letter rune
béon Irregular verb to be am are is was were
úðwita Weak Masculine Noun scholar sage philosopher scribe
I figured you can figure out the small words like ic (I) min (my) ... so put it all together and what did Twizzle write?

Sandwen got Twizzle her last two tapestries. Here are the runes from both of them. I think they are pretty clear for deciphering, especially the second one. I translated this one and only the first word makes sense. I put the other words in the OE to NE translator and nothing came up for them. I went back and did a mouse hover over this one and the second word should come up in the OE translator and the third word seems to be spelled wrong if they are using OE and the last word is weird but I think I know what it means and is also possibly spelled wrong too. This one is PERFECT! Every word is clear and translates into more or less understandable English!

Ah ha! I was misreading some of the runes, and for others, since I did not have the proper symbol, the translator was getting confused. Off climbing today, but will do some work here this evening!
