While I was searching for curriculum ideas for character education, I came upon this: www.harrypottersacredtext.com/ It is an ambitious project/podcast, reading each chapter in the light of a certain theme. For instance, the first chapter of the first book's theme was - Commitment. The remarks made were focused on that theme. There are transcripts of each chapter/podcast under the Resources button. I have only read the first transcript. And that lead me thinking that this would be a wonderful idea to do with LotR. Another google search and I found this: thetolkienheads.com/ I have only listened to the first 5 minutes of the intro, as I don't have time this morning. But, thought I'd share. I did not see any transcripts. They are not made by the same people. The HP one appears to be made by spiritual/religious people with hopefully a broad or liberal view. The LotR one appears to be made by PhD students from literature and language departments.

Hmmm... interesting study concepts. Listened a bit to the Pukel Men production, interactions between vastly different cultures, and possibly different sub-species (always envisioned the Druedain as Neaderthals). Yes, one could do Tolkien here at TR along these lines, or is that what we were already doing with the various book studies?
