This is 20 minutes long so I am putting it here so I can watch it when I have time. Also thought you all might like it, too. The Horn of Gondor m.youtube.com/watch?v=wVFtSUQm-jQ

This is good. It is from Unfinished Tales where Gondor set out to find the Horse Riders in the North to request their aid in battling the Balchoth (sp?) And how the Riders were given the land of Rohan.

Thanks, Stormy! Don't know why, but I was expecting an animated tale -- very enjoyable, like the opening music and the view of the plains unfolding below. Had to stop the video play to look closer at the Scribe's book, hoping it was written in proper Westron, or even the more scholarly Numenorean Adunaic. Not enough definition to really see the words, sigh. The text illustration of the Wain-Riders was quite good! The plains and mountain scenes were quite uplifting, from the names on the credits I guess this is a Czech production, so maybe in the Carpathian Mountains?
Again, thank you -- was a pleasant watch!

I was very surprised how well-done this was made. It was very professional. I'm glad it was not animated. It was nice seeing real fans dressed in authentic attire and weapons. Glad to see the Eotheod ride up. Was sad the Gondorian's horse was wounded so badly. So I am going to look up more on the Balchoth. I don't know much about them. I would have liked to have seen a battle with the Eotheod and Balchoth, but that would have been a more complex YouTube! I looked them up and they are indeed related to the Wainriders. tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Balchoth

I haven’t read UT in a long, long time.
Yes, this was nicely done. Especially so, since I am sure they had a limited budget. Andy, thanks for the heads up on where it was likely made and Stormy, thanks for the link to the film and the one at Tolkien gateway.

UT goes into more detail and this was more or less how Gondor and the Eotheod met. It skipped a lot from then until the Eotheod was rewarded the lands of Rohan! But it is a very good short fan interpretation. I read UT a few months ago so that is why I know!

Wagon-Riders, sounded familiar, I think I first ran across the term in H.G. Well's Outline of History, 1910, so it would have been available for Tolkien in his formative years. I'll see what else I can find on the "real" Wagon-Rider" culture.

That was pretty good for the limited budget they had. Costumes looked pretty authentic. The only one that bothered me was the main orc with the white facepaint and facial hair. He looked much too human. They probably couldn't afford prosthetics though. I liked the invoking of Manwe (Sulimo) to carry the call for help on the wind.
