I am not going to present a link to his monologue, partly because some of it is political and we need to stay away from that. But, he is a Tolkien fan and part of the monologue goes into the nerdiness of us. It was quite good! Steve made me watch it. And towards the end Colbert says something to the effect of -- Our families beg us to find another obsession. Steve gave me a knowing look. "Oh, you want me to find another obsession?" "When you're ready, you can go to Tolkien Anonymous. I've already been to Tolkien-anon." A play on Alcoholics Anonymous and Alanon (for families).

LOL! I don't like Colbert very much but I'll have to check this one out.

Not sure if it was the same broadcast but in offering Tolkien obsession as an alternative to political conspiracies, Colbert went on a rant about Glorfindel being left out of the movies and talked about how he fought a balrog during the Fall of Gondolin. It was pretty great.
