Smaug is a wonderful subject! I love dragon pictures and all the participations are great! This time I made my pictures (yes, I made two!) by hand and used a friend's scanner. This first one I drew with pencil and then painted it with colour pencils (I'm not sure if this is how they are called). But the idea isn't exactly mine, I was looking at a dragon picture I'd found in the Web to get the proportions right. Then I edited it in Photoshop: I put a ripple effect, a diffuse glow effect which added a grey background, changed the colours a little, and maybe I did something else too, I don't remember! The second picture I made with watercolours, trying to copy my first one. I'm not at all good at watercolours, so Smaug looks rather like a winged horse with claws instead of a dragon! (lol) Again, I put a ripple effect in Photoshop, and a black background, and played a little with the colours.

Excellent job Greenleaf! He does not look like a horse in the second one, I think he looks more muscular!

Greenleaf: Both of your dragons are excellent! I like the glow that you added to the first one.
I think you did a great job with the watercolors--they aren't the easiest medium to work with!

Thank you all for your words! I really enjoyed this month's challenge. Stormrider, your Smaug sitting upon the sparkling treasure is amazing! Desi, I loved the old parchment look of your picture! And the other one, too, with the mountain! And Majah, your pictures are excellent as always!

I finally have put in my entries for a Smaug. I wanted to wait until my last creation was finished, a colooured version of my first sketch, but can't get my hands on a scanner in time. I hope I can show that one later still...
The original sketch:
Second one with special thanks to Desi Baggins. She used my drawings and transformed them into this nice piece. So actually this is an artwork made by of both of us.

Orgulas, your Smaug is awesome! You drew all the detail on the map and I love it! Very very good!
Fangorn: Surely you can color in the lines on one of those sketched dragon pictures Majah posted. We would love to see a little spark of artistic talents from you.
