Seeing how this Valar art is helping me to remember all of them I had to make sure the major 8 were done. So I quick did these two so now we have the 8 plus one done in art form. We have Manwë, Varda, Ulmo, Aulë, Yavanna, Oromë, Mandos/Námo and Nienna...Plus Vána! Everyone else finish up your art of the Valar too even if there are repeats. If we get enough we can make these our next year calendar and it would look better if we had art from lots of different TR members!

Pretty cool, Desi!
Your drawings are like the "official seals" of these Valar. Especially Mandos'.....You have received your Doom in this parchment scroll sealed with the official seal of Mandos!

I should note that the two trees in Nienna's pic were done by Stormrider!

Wonderful work everyone! we didn't need to get in TOO big of a hurry cause we have till the end of summer before we start assembling the calendar but it is good to get so many entries already. i know that Desi posted something on the poem threads too but i thought it would be best this year to write up some basic descriptions on each Valar to put with the picture that goes on each page. but i am sure we can use the poems somewhere...?
so go ahead and do art to your heart's content!!!

I am glad that we have until the END of summer to submit more art on this topic. I only have my one idea sketched out and I think I might want to change it a little bit. The other idea is still floating around in my mind. Scary! eh?

Varda...Maker of the Stars Now the day is spent, And stars are kindling in the firmament, To us how silent, though like ours, perchance, Busy, and full of life and circumstance. - "The Lady's Almanack" for 1852, London.

Majah, your Varda is so soft and gentle and feminine. Very delicate. I like how the blue gets deeper the further away from her you get.
We sure are going to have a lot of blue on the 2006 calendar!

Actually both of these Valier sound interesting and I have ideas swimming around in my head. I have some big projects right now for our Equestrian Drill Team so I cannot commit to making anything for these two ladies, but if I can get some time, I will try to do something for them. I wish I didn't have to go to work Mon-Fri--that really cuts into my creative time!

Yeah, Storm: I sure do agree that jobs just take away too much funtime! I could get so much more done if I didn't have to go to work, So much more art work, so much more reading, so much more time on the computer,I might even get out & take a walk! Ah well, I'd best get back to work! Vanye

Hi Desi -
Wish I could draw something for the 2007 calendar. In any case, would absolutely LOVE an announcement of when the 2007 TR calendar becomes available. Will it be on CafePress again? Also, if anyone purchased the 2005 TR calendar and still has it "kicking around", I would like to collect a copy for my Tolkien calendar collection. (Still hoping!) Thanks!

I will let everyone know when it is available. I am hoping by December 1, 2006 so everyone can have it by 2007! It will be through cafepress......
I never bought the 2005 one so I don't have it.....
