Hello my friends... will you be happy to see this errant wanderer stick into the conversation...or will you be throwing rotten vegtables at me?
i did make a promise to you Stormy to work on getting the pages organised for the 2007 calendar and i mean to fulfill that promise.
i came in today to access the artwork and ease myself in a bit. life has not settled down at all but i have been feeling like a shirker since we chatted at our anniversary party.
so forgive me all and allow me to try and serve you... yours, Majah
sheesh...no wonder my karma is so low!!!

Hi Maj!
Good to hear from you! I've been pretty busy, too, so I know where you are coming from. Notice how slow it has been in the posting department around here? I think everyone has been busy.
I still have to think up some more Valar ideas for the 2007 calendar since we are short by a few months worth of art. I have a project I have to finish up for the drill team first and then I will start thinking of Valar!

Wow, Parmastahir!! I have been collecting a few Tolkien calendars but, I'm a piker compared to you. I've only got a half dozen of them. I especially love the Bros Hildebrandt & John Howe. I collect all things Tolkien (except for the figures). I have more books than anything else(aprox. 70). And I do not collect the movie connected stuff w/ the exception of one calendar &, of course' the DVD's. Some of my books were printed in the UK which I like. Well I've blathered long enough. Collecting is like a disease (a harmless but incurable one). Vanye

Nice to see you around Majah!!! The weather here has been so nice that I am outside all day long because my youngest wants to be outside all the time. Posting has been a bit slow lately, things tend to go in spurts. So I don't think there will be any veggie throwing. I think the 2007 calendar will be great and I can't wait to see it!

Just remember to post a note here about the 2007 when it comes out. I would be MOST unhappy if I were to miss it!
I know what Vanye means about the collecting disease. I'm happiest when I have tracked down a "new" (undiscovered) calendar - and especially happy if I can add it to my collection. Was recently able to add four: two that I knew of but had not collected and two that I had not theretofore discovered. Those four should be on their way to me soon (if not already). Plus a fellow collector was able to get two copies of a "new" 2006 issue (from Eldalie). So I should be seeing that one soon, too. I anticipate that they will be on my website in May.
Best to all,
Parmastahir

Happy May to all! May means a new calendar of the month on my website: www.angelfire.com/tn3/tolkiencalendarsHave recently added some Finnish Tolkien Society calendars and will soon add a couple from France. The biggest single change is the format of the site. I put the thumbnails into 10 different lists making the homepage easier to open (faster for those without hi-speed internet access). Check it all out. Am always happy to hear from anyone! Away from the Green Hill Country, Parmastahir

Oh! This is so much better! Thank you! Now I can actually get the pages to load and even though dial up is slow anyway, I can at least get to the calendars and see them!
I see the 1979 JRRT calendar has one of our favorite pictures of the Professor on the cover with his pipe!
The March picture was rather interesting! Looks like JRRT was doodling designs on newspaper.
April's picture looked unfinished but I really loved the dark red sky.
Well, I have to go to work now and will have to finish looking at the calendar later!

Stormrider - I am VERY pleased to hear your comment on opening the website and happy to that I put a little time into redesigning it so it would open a little quicker. Thanks for the feedback.
Magpie - The reason that you can't read the notes is that I deresolve the pictures a little before I upload them. If you send me your email address (you may do so via my website), I can email the full res photo (about a 1.68 mb file). You will certainly be able to clearly see Christopher Tolkien's comments.
Thanks all for looking in!

If you are interested, I updated my Tolkien calendar website this weekend... www.angelfire.com/tn3/tolkiencalendarsFinally created a new Calendar-of-the-Month for June. Won't spoil the surprise by telling you what it is! I have been picking out calendars that are somewhat uncommon, and this one certainly is! Have added a few "new" calendars (recently discovered or catalogued). You can find out which ones in the "What's New" section of the website. Lastly, Beren suggested a section where calendars are sorted by country or society rather than chronologically. So I did so for a large number of them (excluding the large number of Ballantine/USA and Allen&Unwin/UK - and their successors - issues). Hope you enjoy! Comments always welcome - especially if you have a discovery to report. Thanks! Away from the Green Hill Country, Parmastahir

Happy July to Everyone! I have updated my Tolkien calendar website with a few additions and the Calendar of the Month feature. That calendar is the 1976 issue illustrated by the Brothers Hildebrandt in respect to Tim Hildebrandt who passed away on 11 June. Check it all out at: www.angelfire.com/tn3/tolkiencalendarsWould be pleased to hear from anyone with comments or a discovery! Away from the Green Hill Country, Parmastahir

i think that is great calendar for the calendar of the month. It is a great tribute to the Hildebrandt brothers and the 1976 year is great for July 4th too (at least for the USA July 4th).

Hi Desi -
I can only take credit for putting that particular calendar on. It was Stormrider who wrote to me and suggested a Hildebrandt issue to honor Tim. I am pleased that you like our collaborative effort.
