This is the Kevin Bacon movie game with a Middle Earth twist. The person with the correct answer continues with another pairing.
The rules are: Two names are given. Trace a connection through various other names, to the second one. There must be an interaction or implied interaction in the novels between the two characters. Also, two characters that are immediately related to each other (child, parent, spouse) can be included.
The shortest number of links wins. No more than 6 degrees of separation allowed. The relationship can be implied. (Like being in the same room together. We can assume that they said hello to each other.)
EXAMPLE: Frodo -- Denethor
The answer could be: Frodo -- Pippin --Denethor or Frodo -- Faramir -- Denethor
Try not to use Gandalf, Saurman,or Sauron. They link to just about everybody.
EXAMPLE: Ted Sandyman --Haldir
Ted Sandyman --> Sam Gamgee --> Haldir
Begin with Irmo > Mîm<br> (Hint---the last link, the one who links to Mîm is Turin. Actually, there are two possibilities, but you do need Turin for both) This was submitted by Alaere and seemed to have stumped the thread...maybe it can be finished now!

Aeleorn; you need to wrangle Alaere and get her in here to judge your answer... she posted this one over at the MSN game boards and no one answered it then... Alaere...Alaere...where are you? Majah

Can we just call this good?
Irmo > Morgoth >Túrin > Mîm (Aeleorn's reply)
Irmo was a Valar, as was Morgoth, who was tormented by Túrin, who was sheltered by Mîm

"Why, my grand-dad, and my uncle Andy after him, him that was the Gaffer's eldest brother, he had a rope-walk over by Tighfield many a year." Words of Samwise Gamgee from The Two Towers IV 1 The Taming of Sméagol

I have to think on this a bit!
I have never set up the two words that need connecting before.
I'll get back soon.
