Shadowfax has always been my favorite steed of Middle-earth! He stood up against the Witchking's beast, he doesn't need tack or reins, he allows those he trusts to ride him, he is the fastest horse in Middle-earth, he won't let you fall off his back, he comes when you whistle! What more could you want?!

I choose the ponies. I just love Bill the pony ! He was so brave for a pony, especially at the gates of Moria and with Sam's love really came into his own.

I had to go for the ponies! I am a Hobbit and those horses are just too big for me, LOL!

Shadowfax! He's so proud and untamed , he runs like the wind and has quite a personality of his own. In fact, you could say he's more than a horse. I've loved horses all my life, they represent freedom for me, and Shadowfax is the ultimate represantation of freedom. I'd give anything for a ride on his back (if he would do me this honour). To my regret, when I took some riding lessons a few years ago I found out I was rather a lousy rider. I couldn't control the horses as well as my motorbike (of course, they're live animals, not machines, lol) and I even fell off their back a few times. But Shadowfax never lets you fall, right? Exactly the horse I'd like!

I went for Shadowfax, the King of Horses, the fairest and swiftest of horses. And I like the idea of the mutual understanding between him and Gandalf. They're equal friends, not master and animal.

Arod was a fiery and restive horse, but Legolas rode him easily without saddle or rein. When Aragorn decided to take the Paths of the Dead, Legolas went with him, but Arod was reluctant to enter the Dark Door. Arod trembled in fear until Legolas laid his hands on the horse's eyes and sang to him. Arod then followed Legolas through the tunnels as the Dead gathered behind them.
I think the choice of Arod for Legolas shows quite a bit about the elf. It would have been easier for the horse to run away, as he wanted but he allowed himself to be taken where he feared. Also, I think the fact that he, a fiery and restive horse, allowed Gimli, an inexperienced rider, on his back, speaks volumes for his trust in Legolas as well.
