When the goblins arrived on the scene and discovered the wolves burning and confused, the forest alight, and the travelers treed, some of them sat down and laughed before taking action. What are they laughing at? What does their laughter say about their alliance with the Wargs?

You can tell from this the all evil creatures don't really play on the same team. Evil creatures will join other evil beings only if it benefits them.

If you have dealings with unscrupulous friends, don't be surprised when they stab you in the back. It seems as though "bad guys" are mostly concerned about doing only the things that give them the edge. Even though they called on and used the wargs to help them, the goblins held no loyalties to them. There were probably times when the goblins and wargs fought with each other, too. So when they saw the bad state the wargs were in, it had to have struck the goblins' funny bones. Keeping with the "bad guy" image, the goblins were not laughing with the wargs but at the wargs.
