Welcome and well met to all who wish to journey with Tom and his friends into the enchanted realm of: The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, and other
Verses from the Red Book. Please we ask that you wait to begin posting comments until after the introduction on August 1st. I hope we will all get a chance to learn a bit about these little known poems.

Okay, that worked let's try once more: (It's getting better each time so I guess I should thank Bill, huh?)
Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo!
Ring a dong! hop along! fal lal the willow!
Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!
I've spent the night trying to enlighten you about this quote, although it seems I have only enlightened cyberspace with my previous three attempts. so I will be short and sweet as to why I include this phrase from TFotR and not start with a phrase from "Adventures". Having heard Tolkien on tape read these words, and having heard the mockingbird in the early morning singing his territory song, I felt a connection. Granted this is of Native American influence based on what my Grandfather taught me about birds, but in TFotR it harkens back to a bird warning of others of it's territory, and it as well makes mention of Tom singing/whistling like a starling. I think this should be considered when reading these works.

Okay, that is on line! Alayambo me! so now I would like for all whom have read the preface to consider some of the details I am pondering:
What evidence or clues have you found as to when "Adventures" occurs as compared to "Boating"?
In the verse "Adventures" what differences do you notice between Tom in the verses, and Tom in the TFotR?
What do you think of Tolkien's preface, what does it say about him, good natured translator, obsessed English Professor, Loving Father/ Nephew entertaining the family, or maniacal Hobbit fancier?

Hey Iarwain, what is the tape that Tolkien sings Tom Bombadill on? That would be great to hear.

Sorry, doing this in sections so as not to waste such good work to cyberspace!
Don't worry, you gals/guys are worth the effort!
Knowing from the preface that Bombadil is a Buckland based verse, which Hobbit (Bilbo, Frodo, or Sam) wrote this poem?
Do you think because they are 19 hours ahead of North America that New Zealand Kiwis should Kommand Kontrol of Klasses already scheduled? Kiss, kiss love you Vairë, keep me in line! I'm sure there is some Duetsch in you!
Lord of the Rings was published in 1954, these verses were not published until 1962. Do you think Tolkien with his intro was trying to end the Bombadil debate going on by cementing his history within the verses of the Red Book?
I just want to add, that you are in no way required to answer any of these, or any future questions. I only ask them as a muse and am not grading the answers. The only true answers would be from Tolkien, but he is not here to enlighten us, so if you have an opinion it is at least more than likely as good as mine so please post it. I might finally learn something!
Namárië,
Iarwain

Zauber,
It can be heard at my former website the Old Forest, they have a midi on the welcome page. I think you can hear it just by pressing the icon now, no need to sign in.
Hope you enjoy!
Namárië,
Iarwain

Unfortunately, I can't hear music or other sounds on my computer, other than the occasional BEEP! (I don't dare download anything to help, because, shhh! I'm at work!) (Blush, face red).
You and Rivers have done a great job to get this started. Thanks! Zauber
