Hello, I'm here, the one and only Tolkien's Ring Member in Tokyo, Japan. I haven't posted much but will try to contribute more to these lovely new improved boards.
I first read the trilogy when I was 9, back in the mid-70's, and have been a total addict ever since. I'm working on "The Tolkien Reader" right now.
Love the movies too and finally picked up the video of Return of the King and just saw it last week. I have only one thing to say...Gorgeous Blond Elf. Big Scary Elephant. Waaaaaay cool! (or "Wicked Awesome" as we used to say in the small New England town where I grew up).
Looking forward to getting acquainted or re-acquainted with you all.
I don't think we have met before but I'm happy to meet you now. It's great being able to meet people from all over the globe, isn't it? Japan is one of the countries I'd love to travel to one day. I love the movies too, and I also watched the Return of the King again a few days ago. You're definitely right about the Gorgeous Elf, although I have to admit the Weather-beaten Ranger is even more my type. But we are not going to have a dispute over that, right?
Welcome Welcome Hikaro! i look forward to seeing your posts!
and ladies...there is still nothing like a craggy, slightly suspect and a bit confused semi-hero like Boromir... but of course he is only a mere memory by the last movie (i always know how to pick em, don't i? )
HI Majah...actually in real life I'd definitely pick someone like Boromir..I ALWAYS go for the dark, brooding, conflicted types. Been married to one for 14 years, actually. Hmmmm....Boromir's conflict and brooding in Legolas' body, now THAT would be a winning combo!!
