I just wanted to again thank you, MegN, for leading us through the paths of the Silmarillion with such sure-footedness! This was my third time though the book, and I have to say I got so much more out of it not only because of being somewhat familiar with it, but even more becasue of your insightful and provocative discussion questions.
Just scanning though all the messages shows what a great job you did, and I, for one, am quite grateful that you undertook this task!

I, too, extend my heartfelt thanks for the outstanding effort Megn1 put into The Silmarillion. Against her, all other discussion leaders shall be judged! You had better be quaking in your boots Iarwain, Rivers and Algy!

Megn has definately done an excellent job--it will be VERY DIFFICULT to follow in her footsteps in the "Discussion Leader" role!
Megn: You must have studied the Silmarillion for many years and put a lot of thought into all those readings to come up with such excellent thought inducing topics! And we have all benefited from this!
I still plan to look over all of the questions and topics many more times and think about them again. Hopefully, I will even add more comments to these threads. Right now I am learning all kinds of interesting things (html and animated gifs) and have been divided in many directions (not enough time in the day); so it has been difficult to spend as much time as I would like on the Silmarillion study questions you have given us. Plus I don't want to ignore Storm either!

Thank you all, it was a labor of love.
I love the way we are all growing in our knowledge of Tolkien. The more we collectively learn, the deeper our conversations can become. The new thread on Galadriel is an example of how we together learn and grow.
Long Live Tolkien's Ring!!

Yes, Megn, I join in the gratitude already expressed. Had I not found this study, I may not have finished the book. With your help, I did, and gained so much greater understanding and insight. I am looking forward to our next study (Tom Bombadil?? When??) and I am sure future leaders will benefit from your example.
Regards,
Sparrow

Dear Meg,
Thank you so much for all your work. We moved in May and this week I am finished the Silmarilion. I am reading through all the old message boards and loving it. I also appreciate all that you have done.
Sincerely, Jenifer

I agree!! My Hat is off to Megn! Third time through, and I am really getting a grasp on the Silmarillion this time, mostly due to the discussions and Megn's questions. I'm greatful, and thanks for suggesting this, Glor.

Yes, I'd like to join in giving a big hand for Megn! Her questions help in focusing my thoughts on the Sil. Even if I don't often respond, I do read the questions and ponder them. We love you, Megn! Thanks for the great work!

Megn, I want to add my grateful appreciation as well.
Your re-caps and thought provoking questions have kept my reading focused, and the discussions they prompt have helped in my even limited understanding of what I've read. The big thing is I've been encouraged to stick with it!

Thank you all! I appreciate the support I have received, and I'm enjoying reading this book with you. (We're not quite done yet: the Downfall of Numenor is this week...) I've been excited to see the growing depth of conversation on this board, as more people become comfortable with the material in the Silmarillion. I'm looking forward to going even deeper, when we get the the Mock History Syllabus.
