The picture of Treebeard by A. Iken Christiaan was lost
Wk12, Bk6, Ch6, DISCUSSION: Treebeard
The Company finally arrived at Isengard and they learned that Treebeard seemed to have full knowledge of all that had passed and he praised their deeds. How did Treebeard come by this knowledge?
Gandalf is most interested to learn of Saruman who had been kept prisoner at Orthanc. Treebeard told the wizard that he had let him go. "I kept him until he was safe, safe from doing any more harm. " What did Treebeard mean by "safe"?
Gandalf questioned this wondering if Saruman had used his "voice" to persuade Treebeard to release him from Orthanc. Perhaps he wasn’t so "safe." What do you think? Did Saruman use the power of his "voice" to persuade the Ent? Is Gandalf angry or merely concerned? Do you think he has reason to be concerned?
There seemed to be a deep and long-lasting relationship between Fangorn and the elves, especially the Lord and Lady of the Golden Wood. ". . . he bowed three times slowly and with great reverence to Celeborn and Galadriel." Why did the Eldest pay such reverence to these two? The Ent continued, "It is long, long since we met by stock or by stone." When did they first meet? Or last meet? How would you explain their relationship?
Treebeard feared that they would never meet again. Celeborn didn’t know but Galadriel replied, "Not in Middle-earth, nor until the lands that lie under the wave are lifted up again. Then in the willow-meads of Tasarinan we may meet in the Spring." What did Galadriel mean by these words? What and where is Tasarinan? What significance does Tasarinan hold for the elves and Fangorn?
