Sparrow: I am not sure how to take your latest posting on the poetry board. I thought Majah, Illadria and I were engaged in some teasing antics of a harmless "Great War" sort, and I never considered that this might be offensive to anyone, or in violation of the codes of behaviour here. I will delete my messages on this board to ensure site harmony.
It is very difficult sometimes, when caught up in a situation of spontaneous play, to see that others might regard it as a mere annoyance, if not an outright attack.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

For birds, with no hands and only three toes, it is difficult to operate the mouse. So in my post above, I used the keyboard to make my smiley like this - . I am sure if I had used the mouse to select from the menu in the message box, my intent in message #15 above would have been clearer. I do apologize for causing confusion. I didn't mean to suggest that I actually think anyone here at TR is in any way orc-like. Besides, I know Illadria way too well to take her seriously!
Regards,
Sparrow

Kendal very bravely attempted to sacrifice the peacefully slumbering Illadria to the Grand Wizard of Tolkien Ticklers, aka Majah, the Mauve.
Furtively he crept toward the door, but stopped when a little brown bird appeared and began fluttering overhead. This strange and unexpected development flummoxed him. Sure, the diminutive Sparrow seemed harmless enough, but perhaps it was a ruse. He suspected she was, in fact, the Wizard's familiar.
Then, in the blink of an eye, Kendal's words all vanished. It seemed almost as though they had never even been spoken.
"There, birdie...nice, birdie...staay...good girl...stay." he said placatingly as he backed nervously toward the door. Sparrow eyed him indifferently and made no attempt to stop his egress. Even the wizard seemed strangely unconcerned with his departure.
"WooHoo!.. I'm home free!" he started to say as he reached the threshold. But the words died in his throat as he saw Illadria standing right in front of him. The imposing she-elf blocked the exit and his only hope of escape.
"So. You thought you'd deliver me into the Tickler's grasp and just be on your way, did you?"
Kendal's eyes grew wide and Illadria laughed bitterly. "Yes. I did hear what you said. Too late you considered the folly of your words."
Suddenly he reFriended what happened to Peter Jennings in the Great War. And even more frighteningly, what happened to poor Rivers. Anxiously, he considered his options, or lack there of. All he had was time. But when the incensed Elf took a step toward him he realized even that was gone.
Stumbling away, he fled backward to where the placid Majah sat waiting for his return. His eyes fell on the bird - that unflappable, unruffled little Sparrow. She looked back at him with halcyon eyes and winked knowingly.

Now that's the way to display the
FIRST PLACE
Poem for May!
I love the diagonal slashes through the painting--very nice.
You have captured both sides of Éowyn, too.
This would be a wonderful way to display
all the poetry with pictures for the poetry book!
You make art look so easy! It is a challenge for me

thanks you guys! i did do this as a poetry page for our maybe book/calendar. i have tried to do them with pictures lately because it helps tell the poems. i appreciate your comments!
the two sides of Éowyn are paintings i have done of my 11 yr old niece Maris. she seemed to have an instant infinity with Éowyn when she saw the movie (although she wants her to fall in love with Frodo cause "Elijah is sooooooooo cute!!!!!!") and of course she loooooves horses too!
the paintings were what prompted me to write the poem cause i was looking at Éowyn as a heroic figure in the eyes of someone like Maris!
thanks again and see you all
