Please join me in congratulating this month's winners:
First place:
Sparrow
Second place (a TR tie!):
Stormrider and Fangorn
Third place:
Desi Baggins
Congratulations to each of our entrants! And thanks to all -- especially my buddy Rivers -- for bearing with me during a difficult period. As Cole Porter put it, you're the top!
Now, folks, I notice the November poetry contest thread is significantly underpopulated. I understand everyone wants to give their poems as much thought as possible, but TIME'S A-WASTING! I know there are a lot of blade-lovers out there -- write a verse to your favorite sword. You Legolans, compose an ode about his bright eyes sighting down swift, unerring arrows. Dark-side habitués, let's hear a howl in honor of the Morgul-knife. You choose: honorable, dangerous, noble, death-dealing, broken, reforged, ancient, raw, jewel-encrusted or crusted with blood -- it's the weapon of your dreams, an extension of your will. Bring it to life -- write now!

Wow! Thank you so much for this honor! You are starting to convince me I have something of a poet in me!
Congratulations Stormy, Fang and Desi! Good work.
Nice work too Illadria and Majah! I liked your poems as well.
November? Weapons? Hmmm. . . .let's see. . . .

Of course, there is a poet lurking inside of you, Sparrow! I think if we all dug deep down inside, we could all come up with a whole lotta good Tolkien-influenced poetry!
Doing these poems has been a real challenge for me and I think I am also starting to get the hang of it! Some of my earlier poems were reall doozies! lol!
So all of you who have not given it a try, why don't you see what you can do? We would love to read your poems. Don't by shy! Give it a try!
Stormrider

Got one of those spiders, Soleil!
Thanks Stormy, I do enjoy your poetry, too. Nice work for November, btw,
Let me echo Stormy - you may not think you are a poet, but give it a try and see! Who knows what latent talent (there has to be a word for what I just did - note how the first syllables of those two words are mirror images and the second syllables are identical) may be lurking inside you!
