OMG! I'M ON THE LIST TO HAVE GANDALF VISIT ME!
I never thought I had a chance of being picked. OMG! OMG! OMG!
What should I serve? How should I act? What kind of entertainment should I have? I wonder how many feathers Gandalf likes in his feather bed? What kind of pipeweed is his favorite?
OMG! OMG! OMG!

From Andorinha:
Fantastic! Er, just how big is this Gandalf statue? I'm hoping this is not life-sized!
OK, just be cool, Gandalf asked Bilbo for some red wine, I believe, sweet mead will do in a pinch, and maybe some of those "gobblin' finger" cookie snacks? No lady-fingers, Galadriel might have to count her own...
Heavy, Full English Breakfast was ordered at Bilbo's, but never supplied, at least not by the sleep-in hobbit -- so a hearty farm style breakfast seems appropriate, no cram-cakes, splurge this once and get some genuine lembas!
Don't ask him anything about the Balrog, still a touchy subject, I hear; but do see if he knows whether or not Sam's cousin Hal really did see an Ent/ Entwife, up on the northern moors of the Shire! Maybe it was just an Elm tree afterall...
Leave him a couple of bars of your best Spring-Scented soap, and maybe he will have forgotten about his toothbrush, nary a mention of oral hygiene in LOTR! Maple syrup scented tobacco?
You can do this, Stormrider -- remember he's just a Maia, and you rank, here at least, as Illuvatar!

Quote from Andorinhas:
I never thought of that! Good point! That helps me calm down now!
Thanks for all your other suggestions. Yes, Balrog would not be a good topic to discuss. And good idea to send him on his way with some Olive Leaf Soap! Good advertising for me.
From the email I received and the picture examples that were attached, it looks like Gandalf is about 2 ft tall. However, we have to do some trick photography to make it appear that he is life sized in our picture and he has to be the main subject of the picture. This should be interesting!
I am not exactly sure where he is right now. He left on his tour in September so he has been traveling around a while already. There are actually two Gandalf's...one in the USA and one in Europe. There is a TORN member in Chicago who has sent an email and will be communicating with us as the time gets closer.
Here is the official Flicker website where pictures will be posted:

You can see Fandalf (that's what they are calling him) in his carrying case and some of the cool places he has been already. He has gone to a lot of places I would love to go myself. He must be having a riot.
Well, I have to go now and start planning on how to entertain him and make him comfortable.

Here is some info from the email I received from the Chicago TORN member:
We kicked off the Tour on September 24 in Los Angeles at the Bilbo Baggins Birthday celebration. The picnic was a great success and Fandalf has started his tour.
We have more than 400 participants in this event just in the US and Canada so you can imagine the logistics are staggering. We have collected your contact info and organized all the applicants based on their location. I'm attaching a list of all the participants with the city and state/province in which they live to help us move Gandalf around. You'll notice from the list that some of the names are highlighted in yellow. These are TORN staff members who are helping with the Tour, and they are stepping up to help with this very important project. Please keep this information confidential - Tolkien fans are the best in the world, and we want to respect your privacy!
The cities are listed in order in which Fandalf will be visiting, so although we can’t predict when Fandalf will be in your area, you can see where your city falls in the order of visits.
We will try our very best to get Fandalf to everyone, but we might have to skip a couple locations if the time gets short. The Tour ends next summer at Comic Con, so Fandalf must be in San Diego by July 11. We need your help to make this happen - please keep Fandalf moving along!
As you can imagine, it's impossible to pin down specific dates when you will get Fandalf. What we will do is communicate, communicate, communicate and stay flexible to keep him going. In some cases, we might consolidate Fandalf's visit to a large city. For example, I live in Chicago, and there are several of us that live in the area. We might arrange a day or two to take Fandalf around together and share him amongst all of us. That way we maximize the number of participants.
