Not sure where to post this (there's too darn many forums here, guys!). I haven't been around for a while because I've been on vacation in Ireland and England. I had a blast, saw many beautiful sites, and learned lots of fascinating history and legends.
Specifically though, I wanted to tell you guys that we made a stop in Oxford and ate at the Eagle and Child Pub-- where Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and the Inklings used to meet! That was a definite hightlight of the trip for me. I saw the room they always hung out in and a framed piece of paper they all signed, drinking to the bartender's health. Also, it seems that some people think the Eagle and Child (or the Bird and the Baby, as the Inklings called it) was the basis for the Prancing Pony in LOTR! I wonder if ol' Barliman Butterbur was based on the former owner.
Anyhow, not sure how often I'll be around since, as I've said before, I always spread myself too thin online and I'm an editor for another website. But I wanted to pop in, say hello, and share this little tidbit about my trip. Hope everyone is well.

Fredegard:
It sounds like a wonderful vacation! I'm glad that you got the chance to visit the Eagle and Child while there. I also heard that this pub was the inspiration for the Prancing Pony. Did it seem like a lively place? Was there lots of bustle and activity there? Were there dark corners shadowed in mystery?
lol! I am getting carried away with myself!
How long were you vacationing in Ireland and England? I would imagine you might have had to take at least a couple of weeks to enjoy everything!
It is always good to hear from you, so pop in whenever you have time!
