My poetry sucks, you know that. But I'll give it a try... give you something to laugh at ;D

Christmas time is oh so sweet Giant turkey's there to eat Lots of gifts from hand to hand Spreading love throughout the land
Perhaps this sounds more Hobbitish than Elvish. ;D I'm afraid I couldn't do better, even if I put more thought into it than I did now. I've always been more into tales than poetry. I'm leaving it to the professionals to make something better. I shouldn't torture you too much, yet perhaps it can at least serve as humorous addition. (And now I beat Illy to make something to laugh with! )
It's great to see you pass by, Fangorn!

Very charming, Androga. I like it. Short, simple, to the point, and it has a nice warm feeling to it.

Thanks, Storm! It's a very nice comment. It kind of popped into my head when reading this thread, I wrote it down, read it a few times, and then I reworked it a bit before I posted. I doubt I could handle lengthier poems though.

SHIRELAND YULE by Stormrider
In all four Farthings of the Shire Hobbits gather round the fire Boughs of holly adorn every Smial Delicious goodies with every meal
Fir tree placed in the stand Adorned with ornaments made by hand Mounds of presents underneath While on the door hangs a wreath
Fireplaces are warmly lit No one wants to idly sit Flute and fiddle play Yuletide tunes Feet are tapping in all the rooms
Platters heaping Mugs steeping Lasses laughing Lads’ pipes puffing
Shireland Yules are always fun Happy Hobbits when all is done Warm and cozy and content Eagerly wait for the next Event!

Fangorn: Now I can't wait to read some of your stuff. You always have great poems.
I'm going to try to do another poem in a Rohirrim style next.

Solstice SojournIt takes my breath away the clean, crisp, cold air… Or is it the beauty of sparkling diamond ice as far as I can see? The sky is black, the moon full… Silhouettes of tree branches sketching patterns against the night. My footsteps fill the silence with the sound of crushing glass. The path of moonlight leads the way… I am almost home.

The Visit My breath fogs up the window As I try to peer within To see who’s up awake And who’s already sleeping
I wipe the steam away With a mitten covered hand The wool that keeps me warm As I fly across the land
The bag of treats and treasures Weighing on my back Just aching to be given out To bring relief at that
Now I am NOT complaining Please don’t think less of me But I feel a hot bath coming And some whiskey in my tea
The missus stokes the fire Anticipating my return I will sit contented And watch the embers burn
Another year has passed My job well done again Until next year my dear ones When another Christmas begins

Those are very nice poems!
Storm: Very Hobbitish indeed! Very warm and cosy. Seems like a party where I could enjoy myself. I'm looking forward for your Rohirrim themed poem.
Majah: Your Solstice Sojourn is very romantic. I Can feel that winter night. On The Visit; so that's what Santa is doing? It's nice to get to know him by your poem.

Majah: I love the animation with the eyes! It gives a cool and brisk feeling just by looking at it as the poem suggests. It must really be cold out there in Montana to inspire you to write about crushed glass beneath the footsteps. I guess Santa is tired of all those milk and cookies and a shot of whiskey in his tea must be what he is really looking for! Androga: Thanks for the compliment. Hobbits are always easy to write about. ;D I have a bunch of thoughts and ideas sketched out for my Rohirric poem but I am having trouble putting them all together. I am still plugging away at it.
