In the last section of Chapter Two "Of Aulë and Yavanna," it describes how Yavanna is distressed that the Children of Ilúvatar will use all the works of Yavanna, namely the kelvar and the olvar without respect nor gratitude (for food and shelter). She says that all her works are dear to her and wonders why isn’t it enough that Melkor has marred so many already. She wants to know if anything she has made would be free from the threats of the Children of Ilúvatar.
So Manwë asks her which one of her creations she would like to preserve and protect. She tells him that she would like the trees to speak on behalf of all the plants and punish anything that wrongs them.
Manwë thought about Yavanna’s request and Ilúvatar hears him and tells him to tell Yavanna that He (Ilúvatar) heard the "least sound of the least voice" and put all the sounds in the creation and that the thought of Yavanna would awaken when the Children awake. The creation of the sounds from Yavanna would go among the kelvar and olvar and would be held in reverence and also their anger would be something to fear.
So Yavanna goes back to Aulë and tells him, "Eru is bountiful. Now let thy children beware! For there shall walk a power in the forests whose wrath they will arouse at their peril."
I think this may refer to either the Ents and Entwives or the Huorns. Does anyone agree with me?

I don't know if it is a correct observation, but I was thinking the same thing. My first thoughts after reading that passage was that it was referring to the Ents and Entwives.

Yes! Ents they are. The shepherds of the trees. The gift of Iluvatar, in response to the desire in the heart of Yavanna. Walking trees to protect the beauty she labored to create. Partially in response to the creation of the dwarves, who will "have need of wood."
