Good day, I was looking through the groups offered by MSN for something more than a movie fan club before the rings. I very seldom get to discuss the deeper matters of TLOTR, because besides my father I don't know anyone else who is in the same league as I am when it comes to LOTR knowledge. Tolkien's works have been part of my life ever since I was five. I'm home school, and my parents always read me a variety of the great literature in our private library. They read the Lord of the rings to me five or six times, and the hobbit, but most of all we had 41 tape cassettes of the Lord of the rings unabridged, and I would listen to this three to six times a year, year on end. I did not let my Dyslexsa get in my way. I know the characters like dear friends, and I have always seen myself as Éowyn
"But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Eowyn I am, Eomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him!!!"
I've always been greatly inspired by the great bonds of friendship and noble deeds described in Lord of the rings, enjoying the subtleties and beauty that lies hidden in the script.
I am undertaking the illustration of the entire Lord of the rings, not just an illustration per chapter, which many have done, but an illustration per page! I was outraged by the violations in the movies, and I have decided I must do something. My plan is to illustrate the scenes that have been under represented or never illustrated. Putting emphasis on the details and mundane parts of the books, leading the reader's imagination fill in the more exciting parts. I will also illustrate main parts that have not had proper representation like the ents and Tom Bombudill, as well as a reconstruction of Éowyn, and the relationship between Aragorn and Arwen Undómiel. Having grown up with scientific values, I will not just insert all of my own opinions and ideas, I want peer review!! So I was wondering if the honorable members of the site could give me some of their own ideas and opinions concerning the Lord of the rings and the characters; how they see them, what they mean to them. I can post sketches as I get them done, and illustrations as they come too.
I am 18 and in my first year studdying to become a Regited Massage Tharipist in Ottawa (2300hours), I am a healer.

I am so glad you made it here! I am sorry about my confusing info on how to log in or I should now say register!
Our fearless leader Stormrider is a huge fan of Rohan and Éowyn so you will have to fight her on who is the real her, LOL!
Your art project sounds amazing. I have seen a little of you stuff in our MSN photo album. Since we have moved our forums to proboards we have set up accounts with photobucket.com (see our art forum for more info on that). Since you are artistic check out our monthly art contest! This month is celebrations which might be a good one for you since you could pick a scene or page from the book that has a celebration.
Ottawa as in Illinois? That is not too far from me (1 hour or 2). I am in Belvidere which is right next to Rockford. I believe in the Palantir Post forum we have some info on a museum in Indiana that will be displaying movie "stuff" and we are planning on getting a big group of people from the MidWest area to go together. So you might want to check that out and keep it in your mind, we have not set a date yet cuz we are waiting on price info!
The Hobbit study is finishing up but you can start at the begining and add anything you want to any of the topics at any time.
Also we will be having our 3rd anniversary for Tolkien's Ring Jan. 29-30 we have scheduled chats and that info is in the Gaffer's Gab section! A big Middle-earth Sight-seeing Tour (roleplay) is the main attraction and is a don't miss!
Anyway so glad you are now apart of Tolkien's Ring, welcome!

Welcome PaleandFair:
As DesiBaggins said, I, too, admire Éowyn. Her courage and determination have been an inspiration to me. She prevailed even in a rough male dominated environment and fought for her country, her family and friends, and herself despite the odds against her. She stood up for Merry and his desire to help his friends out by joining in the battle as well. Together she and Merry took down the Witchking--no small undertaking!--and one of my favorite scenes.
I do not necessarily see myself as Éowyn; but as a shieldmaiden who has been influenced by Éowyn's courage and principals. Although I have made myself some of Éowyn's clothing and wear it on occassion, I do not consider myself to actually be her--just her spirit and spunk!
I'm happy to see you made it to our new forum! Please do not neglect the old Archives either. There are some great discussions back there. If you see something intriguing over there, please feel free to bring back the discussion on this new forum!
I hope you have checked to see if you are able to access The Prancing Pony chatroom at the MSN forum if you would like to join us on our 3rd Anniversary celebration the end of January. I know you were having some problems trying to post over there.
Capturing the scenes from the LOTR that have not been illustrated already is a wonderful goal and a large undertaking! I hope some of our contests will help inspire you and that you will consider entering some of your art. I enjoyed the pictures you have posted in Galadriel's Mirror on MSN.
Please feel free to add an album at the TR Photobucket Picture site for yourself. We would love to see more of your work. Several of us have our albums there, too.
Once again, welcome to Tolkien's Ring.

Welcome! I'm running a bit short on time, but did want to at least say hello, and to welcome you to Tolkien's Ring. It is a great group of people, friends now, as many of us have been together here for so long (off and on ) for up to three years, some even longer. You've come at a great time, as we're preparing to celebrate TR's 3rd anniversary!

Welcome, PaleAndFair! I too am a big fan of Eowyn. Her courage and determination have always made her one of my favorite characters, probably my favorite of the human folk in the books. Your illustrations sound very interesting, not to mention overwhelming. One per page?!! Yikes. Well, good luck with it and I look forward to seeing your work.

Hello, PaleAnd Fair!
Welcome to TR. I think you'll find a wide variety of view points and opinions here with which to interact. I think the best thing about joining a discussion forum is this availability of cross-fertilizing ideas! I bet you'll get your "peer-review" here!
Looking forward to seeing your art work, and now I'll go read your Eowyn thread!

Greetings PaleAndFair; although i cannot aspire to be as noble as Eowyn, i have always thought of her as my favorite female figure in ME. in fact i won a poetry contest with Eowyn as my subject on our favorite heros!
i am TOTALLY in awe of your determination to illustrate the stories...i would not live long enough to take on that task! please share your work with us as it progresses, please?
welcome to TR Majah
