In Chapter Ten: The Voice of Saruman, we run across a bit of text that deals with the growing relationship of the Dwarf and the Elf. Gandalf and Theoden are preparing to step forward and meet with Saruman. Gimli speaks up and says: "Legolas and I wish for a closer view. We alone here represent our kindreds. We also will come behind." This is the first instance of one individual speaking for both. Very reminiscent of how identical twins will communicate to "others". Let's keep an eye out for additional events in our future reading ... * * * From: Glorfindle Sent: 11/30/2002 6:28 AM The stage was set for the dawn of Man. Legolas and Gimili merely represented what was left of the old age. That they would pass and diminish together lends hope to the new age. Know your true friends and enemies.
