Yes, that would be over-doing it, Stormy!
Had a neighbor drop off some grapefruit this morning -- doubly welcome as the grocery stores no longer have my grapefruit soda pop, and then there is all that natural vitamin C.
Wife and I are practicing elbow-nudges to replace handshaking...
I can open our mailbox with my elbow too...
Still have to use my gloved hand to refill car gas tank...

Good for youse two! Elbows come in handy at times, but wash them, too, or the clothing covering them. Just washed all our coats and gloves today.
Yeah, gas filling is something to worry about! When you have to be aware of things like that, it really sinks in how many hand-to-item-to-hand things there are out there.

It is slowly sinking into my husband's head that we must suspect absolutely everything that is touched by another human. I remind him daily to wash his hands after going to the mailbox. Our daughter dropped off some groceries and I had to say "Don't touch!" in my best Gandalf "You shall not pass!" voice. LOL

Yeah, Desi's husband's, grandfather is going to have a birthday card party for his 95th birthday. I was going to go out and get a card then thought better of it with other people touching and opening and reading them. I didn't really want to go out at all to do that either. I have some cards stashed away, but none of them are the right card for him so maybe I will make one with Carli's art supplies.
Our youngest daughter, works in the hospital that is 5 minutes away and she said they have a case of COVID-19 there as of yesterday. She will be doing screening for the virus now. She wasn't sure what she will be wearing or what the screening questions will be and what answers are the ones to send people away or bring them in for the test yet. She is finding that out today. She has been stripping off her clothing before she comes home as it is and throwing them in the washer and taking a shower as soon as she gets home.

Social distancing is going well so far. I struck up a conversation with a SPIDER. He seems very nice. He is a web designer.

The following is from an Asst. Prof in infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins University
* The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA) covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, changes their genetic code. (mutation) and convert them into aggressor and multiplier cells.
* Since the virus is not a living organism but a protein molecule, it is not killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material where it lies.
* The virus is very fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is the best remedy, because the foam CUTS the FAT (that is why you have to rub so much: for 20 seconds or more, to make a lot of foam).
By dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.
* HEAT melts fat; this is why it is so good to use water above 25 degrees Celsius for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more useful.
* Alcohol or any mixture with alcohol over 65% DISSOLVES ANY FAT, especially the external lipid layer of the virus.
* Any mix with 1 part bleach and 5 parts water directly dissolves the protein, breaks it down from the inside.
* Oxygenated water helps long after soap, alcohol and chlorine, because peroxide dissolves the virus protein, but you have to use it pure and it hurts your skin.
* NO BACTERICIDE OR ANTIBIOTIC SERVES. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria; antibodies cannot kill what is not alive.
* NEVER shake used or unused clothing, sheets or cloth. While it is glued to a porous surface, it is very inert and disintegrates only -between 3 hours (fabric and porous), -4 hours (copper and wood) -24 hours (cardboard), - 42 hours (metal) and -72 hours (plastic).
But if you shake it or use a feather duster, the virus molecules float in the air for up to 3 hours, and can lodge in your nose.
* The virus molecules remain very stable in external cold, or artificial as air conditioners in houses and cars.
They also need moisture to stay stable, and especially darkness. Therefore, dehumidified, dry, warm and bright environments will degrade it faster.
* UV LIGHT on any object that may contain it breaks down the virus protein. For example, to disinfect and reuse a mask is perfect. Be careful, it also breaks down collagen (which is protein) in the skin.
* The virus CANNOT go through healthy skin.
* Vinegar is NOT useful because it does not break down the protective layer of fat.
* NO SPIRITS, NOR VODKA, serve. The strongest vodka is 40% alcohol, and you need 65%.
* LISTERINE IF IT SERVES! It is 65% alcohol.
* The more confined the space, the more concentration of the virus there can be. The more open or naturally ventilated, the less.
* You have to wash your hands before and after touching mucosa, food, locks, knobs, switches, remote control, cell phone, watches, computers, desks, TV, etc. And when using the bathroom.
* You have to HUMIDIFY HANDS DRY from so much washing them, because the molecules can hide in the micro cracks. The thicker the moisturizer, the better.
* Also keep your NAILS SHORT so that the virus does not hide there.

Good stuff to know, Stormy! But, I had read that humidity weighs down the virus so it does not stay airborne. I guess it may be a combo thing. While it is airborne, humidity is good, but on surfaces, dry is better.
Also, when using hand sanitizer - let your hands dry completely. That is when you are disinfected.
I talked to Hir yesterday. (Remember the guy we helped with those instances?) He's in the hot spot of NYC, but, doing ok. Playing a lot more since there isn't anything else to do.

My uncle, a retired professor of Physics, did some research on my previous long post. A posting about the corona virus, how it works, supposedly from Johns Hopkins, is grossly untrue. "...The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA)..." Mike Nguyen said the following, "Mike Nguyen • 12 hours ago This certainly did NOT come from John Hopkins. It contains FALSE information and should be removed before it does harm. Listerine does NOT contains 65% alcohol and will NOT kill the coronavirus !! Listerine indicated that NONE of its products has more than 30% alcohol." Here, writerstake.com/posts/johns-hopkins-university-coronavirus-and-its-mode-of-operation-simplified. (THIS LINK GOES NO WHERE) (And there is much more wrong with it.) Although this info doesn't go into any more of what is wrong with it.

Glad your uncle researched it. I did wonder about the "dry" environment thing, since I had read that it "dies" faster in humidity. I know that Listerine does not contain enough alcohol, but, I thought possibly one of the other ingredients had some sort of effect. I, also, know that soap "foam" in and of itself makes no difference, however, friction makes foam, and it is the friction and spread of soap that we want to encourage. People, especially kids, like foam, so it is a good visual. Some of the other stuff might have partial truths, also.
