Tonight at 7:00 pm CST, I'm going to be on my friend's podcast show. We're doing a geek debate club and arguing which movie franchise is superior - Star Wars or Middle-earth. I am, of course, on the Middle-earth team. The show will be streamed live on Facebook on the page for The Dope podcast: www.facebook.com/thedopepod

Good opening statement, and what an interesting debate!

Oh! Great job! Both teams had great arguments.
A drawback in my opinion was: I don't think the person talking should criticize the other movie, only talk up it's own movie.
Closing statements should have been 2 minutes instead of one.

To be honest, I didn't enjoy this very much. My friend Maui (who runs the podcast) gave us the rules day of and didn't give us a lot of time to prepare. It was hard to make a point during the debate because people were talking over each other. Also at the end, the judges admitted that they were all bigger fans of Star Wars than LOTR so the whole thing felt kind of rigged. Not sure that I'd participate in another of these debates unless they make some format changes.

Well, that isn't fair to have all Star Wars fans as judges. I like both SW and LOTR but am more a LOTR fan, of course! Having more time to prepare would have been better, too. There are tons of great points made here at TR that could have helped you, too. Especially regarding themes that really hit your hheart. And even the small guy can do great things when needed. Your 2nd girl went into too many "thank yous for letting me do this" and lost time making her points. I think you did a pretty good job with the technical aspects of LOTR.
