Sorry everyone that I have been late coming into my responsibilities. I will now administer the poetry contests here at TR for one year. I am still working on a lesson plan and format to make our experience as satisfying as can be. This will probably take the better part of the month. In the interim, to keep the poetry flowing, the JUNE topic will be open, and any and all poetry Tolkien related will be accepted.
The one rule for this month, is that after you post your poem, you will need to make a suggestion on the "Poetry Suggestion" thread, about what kind of poems or poetry ideas you would like to see. This is very broad, and even the slightest of suggestions is most heartily welcome.
I will post the vote e-mail link, once it is ready, and may even take opinions on whether we would prefer a live poll to judge the poetry. Now that this board is up, we have many more options open to us. Bear with us while we fine tune this category!

We even Forgot our Own Name
Yes, Precious, we found you in the mud. The mud in Deagols hand You spoke to us even then before we touched you and held you
How precious you were How shiny and beautiful You called to us, you did On my Birthday
And all the juicy fishes They did not know we were there Did they my precious? Until we caught them, we dids, and ate the juicy fishes
They did not understand Grandma and the rest They hates us, hates us Because we have the precious.
They wants it, wants it But it is mine, they can not haves it So I go away, not light of day will give me away, but dark of night in caves cool not bright
So many years we live here Grandma and the rest are dead so long ago only you my precious stays with me only you...my bright precious....
Orcses come but they cannot find us we laugh at them and what blinds them Yes my Precious you and me Is all that matters, here with me
Someone calls.....in the cave I don't know what they say Only Precious matters, so be wary We snaps their neck if they tarry
We don't look back to what we done For Precious is the only one It calls us, yes indeed it does But I do not remember my name.

In the West they still dwell...
When there were yet no moon and sun, When up in the sky shone only the stars, They were the first to wake up in Arda, The mighty Elves, beloved of the Valar.
And then they were invited to go to Aman, To live there happily next to the Valar. Some journeyed far to the Undying Lands, Some stayed behind, for Middle-earth they loved.
Immune eternally to disease and age, Immortal they were, wise and fair. Only in battle could they be slain, Or pass away slowly by sorrow and despair.
They were masters of lore and craft, They excelled in poetry and song and art. They loved the forests and all growing things, And even taught the trees how to speak.
Their history, though, was full of grief, Of war ’n revenge, pain and deceit. Their own brethren they even killed, And that was their greatest sin.
Deceived by Sauron, the Rings they made, And he forged the One, desiring to prevail. Along with Men they bravely fought him, And for a little while there was again peace.
But Middle-earth was not safe for long As the evil Shadow rose once more. This time, though, the Elves fought but little; If it were not for Men, all life would cease.
They’d gradually waned as the ages passed, For the time of Men had eventually come. They crossed the Sea and went to the West, Where, I’m sure, they still dwell.

Congrats Greenleaf and Fangorn! Greenleaf you did such a wonderful job of writing a poem in your non-native tongue! Fangorn you always come up with such great poem topics, it is like you got right inside Gollum/Smeagol's mind!
