Just changing hot-and-dry for hot-and-wet, visiting relatives in North Carolina. Will probably hit the beaches for a few days, not really exciting travel, but the barbeques are good!

We made it back. We had some great rides but didn't place well. I didn't make it on my horse for the second Dare Devil ride, when I went to vault on she got ahead of me and my leg hit the back of the saddle and bounced off, I was hanging on with my hands and arms so I dragged awhile then fell and had to catch her and get on. I am a little sore and now afraid to vault on, so I need to practice today for my performance Saturday.

I got a good video of it too! And the professional photographer got some shots of it as well. Desi, you didn't mention that your new knickname for the team is now "Splat"! ;D

Woo Hoo! Our Team entered a competition this past weekend and we placed first in the open division for the Original Team and second for the Dare Devils. The kids came in second in the Novice division.
Wiinning this competition is a big pick-me-up for the teams! Our drills were much more exciting and fast paced than the other teams and we were much more precise in our maneuvers, too.
Going to Texas has given our teams more knowledge on how to do drill and do it well, even if we didn't place as well as we would have liked in Texas. So the two years in Texas are paying off!

Hey Storm: Do we get to see the Splat? Or do you have video of the drills like you did last year? Vanye

I have pictures of the "splat" and I need to get the video from Desi to post it somewhere (you tube or photobucket - for instance). The photographer was taking pictures of all the girls as they came in doing the pony express so he didn't get a step by step capture of Desi's entire splat but here is what I have: Here is the beginning of the pony express mount where Desi didn't get her leg up completely on the saddle seat: Here is Desi being dragged by her horse, Melony, just before she let go: This is how it is supposed to look when the team enters the arena doing the pony express (I took the photographer's pictures and photoshopped them together in a straight line): Desi and Melony are the third from the left here--notice she has her leg on the saddle seat in this picture which was the first day they performed--the splat happened on the team's performance the next day) The team leaves the arena riding backwards (more editing on my part):

Those line up of shots are way cool! Did you do that for the website too? I will work on getting the video posted somewhere. I also want to get our 2nd place video!

Yes, the entry and exit line ups will be going on the Dare Devils webpage when I get it all finalized.
Get us an account for our Midwest Renegades videos and get the ones on the website loaded to it. I know You Tube gives you a link code to embed in your website, so I would like to start doing that with our videos. The way they are now take forever to load and watch--I hate it.

WOW! Great photos, Stormrider and Desi. Sorry to hear your team did not place as well as you hoped, but very glad the "Splat" seems to have done little or no damage to you, Desi! I think I could try a similar mounting procedure, providing the horse were a firmly anchored fiberglass model, with zero speed involved...
Glad that the second "meet" turned out better for your team, I guess that's the edge you gain from competing at a very high level in Texas -- CONGRATULATIONS!

I think I mentioned elsewhere on the forum that our team went to New York to perform for families of a military base stationed out there. One of our riders began the plans for this event last October when her sister's family was stationed there. However, in January, her sister's husband was killed in action in Irac when his Kiowa helicopter was shot down. So we were more determined to go perform for the families than ever! It would be nice to do this same thing closer to home and we would be interested if anyone has information of military bases in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Indiana that would like us to perform for them. Actually I have looked on line at a few bases that hit our website! Rather than go into a lot of detail here, I will just give you the link to our Fort Drum page because the pictures speak louder than words. The main picture is an animation of our teams doing parts of their drills. It is set at a slow animation speed so the images do not change too quickly. The second image depicts activites with the kids--horse rides, cart rides, painting the Breyer horses and stick horses. It is also a slow changing animation. Desi rides on the Dare Devils trick riding team and I am with the Gangster team. Enjoy! www.midwestrenegades.com/FortDrum.htm
