I would like to start The Witcher series but am confused what the correct order is to read them in. Ok, got the order to read them off the internet.

I’ve got about a 3 week wait on “The Last Wish” the first book of short stories.

Oh! Good! But I had hoped there was a scene with Dandelion! Is he in the Netflix version?

I started watching The Witcher on Netflix last night. I never got through more than a book and a half in my reading.
Perhaps the books eventually explain some of the things I see in the Netflix version that I haven't read yet!
Such as the law of surprise when the helmeted guy coming for the Princess' hand in marriage and her mother is the one who dies in the beginning of the show when their castle is attacked.
In the books (that I read so far) the stories all seem disjointed and out of order.
I never read anything about Ciri and being in the forest with the Amazon women. Perhaps reading more books would have explained that.
Why is Dandelion called Jaskier in the Netflix series?

The third book helps, but perhaps the 2nd half of the 2nd book?

2nd book is about the guy who changes into the merchant, takes his horses, sells them, makes a profit, keeps buying/selling, etc.

I've read the entire Witcher books a few years ago. The story is very nice.
The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny are separate short stories, and come chronologically first.
The true saga is one continuous story, and consists of: Blood of Elves Time of Contempt Baptism of Fire The Tower of the Swallow The Lady of the Lake Ciri is only in this saga.
Season of Storms, the book that Sapkowski wrote last is another separate story. It does not matter when you read this book. Chronologically it is situated before the 5-book saga, but after The Last Wish.
I never played any of the games. And I doubt I'll watch the Netflix series.

Hullo, Androga -- been a long time, hope life has been good for you! Think we last talked about the Shanara series, many years ago...
This new "Witcher" series I have not approached yet, but as Stormy and Fan have some acquaintance with 'em, and you now, I'll check 'em out...

I read part of the first book in the Witcher series, but then had to return it to the library. I did not request a hold in order to finish it. Honestly doubt that I will finish that one nor one the following. But, I did really like the third book, and wish to continue the series from that point.
I've been in a "mood" lately and am staring right now at a pile of books roughly 2 foot high. Added another volume (1100 pgs) to the pile the other day. This particular book had been on and off the pile for a couple of years now. *sigh*

I just watched two seasons of the Shannara Chronicles based on the Sword of Shannara books. John Ryes-Davies and the guy who was the big orc boss in the Hobbit movies is in it. They discontinued the tv series and aren't planning a third season. I liked the first two seasons and am disappointed there won't be a third. I will get the book to finish it after I finish the Witcher books.
Also started The Magicians SyFy series. I'm into the 3rd season now. Interesting show. Magicians at school and travelling to a land from a book series they loved reading when they were younger. It seems rather long at times but there are many twists and references to movies and shows etc. It's quirky and funny too.

Hi Andorinha! It's been too long!
I have to think a bit about the long list that I've read since my departure.
The Shannara series I read from First King until the Voyage of the Jerle Shannara. I know that there are more out, but I didn't return to this world yet. I also heard about the series, but I don't follow much in that medium.
I also finished the Wheel of Time series (Robert Jordan, finished by Brandon Sanderson), had a dozen of books of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth, I now own but must still read Tad William's Otherworld (I did read Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn long ago), went through Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea, and I made my first steps in Terry Pratchetts' Discworld. And yes, I read the entire Witcher series. The important part is the 5-books series about Ciri, starting with Blood of Elves, the others are nice if you want to know more about Geralt's history. Although I knew earlier about the computer games (which I never played), my wife gave me the last push to read the books. She's Polish. The books are actually quite old already. She remembers that a friend of hers was very fond of them, when she still lived in Poland. She also directed me towards Stanisław Lem, who wrote science fiction. I've read his Star Diaries, with some nice adventures of the space explorer Ijon Tichy, and a short story, The Hunt, that was only recently discovered. I also read all the books of the Song of Ice and Fire. I hope George Martin will still be able to finish it. I can understand why we have to wait for the 6th volume, and the complex puzzle that he laid out, but the author is also getting older... So like you, I've read a bit during the last few years. And still there too many books that I didn't read yet!
I wonder if now is a good time to actually open that specimen of collected Jules Verne stories that I bought 6(?) years ago. The version I have is the kind that is too beautiful (and heavy) to take along when travelling to work and back again.......
