The picture was lost--it was entitled "Beregond" by Edward E. Beard
Wk4, Bk 5, CH 4, DISCUSSION: BEREGOND
When Pippin realizes what Denethor is determined to do (to set afire the table upon which he and Faramir lay), Pippin runs off in search of Gandalf. He meets Beregond and urges him to "do something to stop any dreadful thing happening." Beregond explains that he cannot leave his post for any cause, save at his Lord’s own command. Continues Pippin, "Well, you must choose between orders and the life of Faramir…I think you have a madman to deal with, not a lord" Beregond has expressed his devotion and love for both Denethor and Faramir. What do you think Beregond will do? Will he obey orders or will he leave his post? With what evidence or feelings do you base your answer? (Please, no spoilers.)

From: Desi-Baggins Sent: 4/8/2003 10:21 AM I think that Beregond will leave his post to save Faramir. Beregond seems to hold Faramir high. Hearing that Denethor has brought Faramir to the House of the Stewards not dead yet surly should prove to Beregond that Denethor has lost it! Desi
