Hi,
I am the editor of a Beowulf site that some of you already know about at www.jagular.com/beowulf.
I am not a scholar like Ben Slade, and I can't read Old English, but I do have copies of more than 50 different Beowulf translations, plus about 30 other books on Beowulf, and the Kevin Kiernan CD's. So if anyone would like me to look something up for them then I would be glad to do it.
Syd Allan.

Syd, Welcome to our study of Beowulf! And thank you for your generous offer of questions to be answered. We are a small group, but lively; I'm sure we'll be coming up with questions for you. I am so pleased at how depthful our study has been, and all the many directions our inquiry has lead.
Welcome!!

Another Beowulf-related forum which has just 're-opened' is The Boar's Helm Pub

WOW! I just 'tried on' the Boar's Helm, and was quite impressed. I didn't linger after getting a general overview -- I could spend days over there too! Thanks for the link!
Do you or Syd know of any museums that have Anglo-Saxon artifacts, in the Baltimore-Washington-Philadelphia area? I am very visual, and want to SEE more of this culture. In recent years, I have seen exhibits on Vikings at the Smitshonian and Scythians at the Walters Museum, but want to see more.

Regarding the Boar's Head Pub, there are some Anglo-Saxon recipes (Source: None other than our own Slade supplied the link), and after reading them I have decided to do an Anglo-Saxon inspired Holiday dinner. That should be memorable!

Syd, I just got side tracked on your site by the article about Women (having nothing to do with Beowulf!). VERY funny, very good. Thanks for a fun read.

Thanks for the comment about my page "Frequently Asked Questions About Women," at www.jagular.com/women-faq.shtml.
I received 10,000 hits in 4 weeks on that page after it was chosen as "Site of the Day" at cruel.com. Although it is not my favorite essay that I have written (my Kittycat Hunter essay is my favorite), it is the most popular single page I have on my site.
The page is intended to poke fun at my own inept behavior with women, and to tell my friends that I had finally come to understand some of the advice they had been giving me, but quite a few people thought I was serious, and sent me angry email messages telling me that I am an idiot. You never know how someone will react to satire.
Syd.
