Andorinha ---
It does sound like a great trip ! Some of those places were visited in that recent Ken Burns series on the National Parks - I'm afraid that's as close as we will get to them in the forseeable future, but I will look forward to any of your reports on your trip that you might send us when you get back...

I don't think I've posted about this here yet. My friends and I have put together a podcast focusing on pop culture and geek-related subjects (comics, movies, video games, etc.). One of the group owns a recording studio so we thought this would be fun to do. Anyhow, we just released our third episode. This time around we managed to snag some guests so I've been spreading the word around the internet. Here is the press release: "The Initiative Show pop culture podcast offers its new episode "November Shot." The focus is on independent creators and creative voices in various media. The episode features interviews with Greg Weisman (creator of the Disney animated series Gargoyles and Lead Story Editor on The Spectacular Spider-Man) and "chipbreak" digital muscian Nigel Shields, a.k.a. Saskrotch. Also discussed are the Alternative Comics panel at the Chicago Humanities Festival, upcoming comics projects from several Initiative members, recent video game releases, and the new feature "Nerdspace News," discussing news and rumors from around the geek culture world. The Initiative Show can be found on its website, www.theinitiativeshow.com and on iTunes in the Podcast section."

I got errors on the podcast section of the site but I watched a few of the videos. They were very good. I saw Batman Dead End, The Office War, and one of the Jack Black History of Drinkings.
Poor Batman...he was up against some pretty nasty villains. I really liked the office war (since I work in the office). That would be a cool way to kill the last half hour of the work day while you are watching the clock to go home. Ha Ha Ha So Ben Franklin's son was the one who flew the kite--smart Ben!

Sorry about that error. Looks like our earlier episodes aren't working. If you scroll down on the main page though, you can listen to the current episode.

I haven't been by this way for a while, so I thought I would pop in to say: Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukka, Joyous Solstice, & Happy Kwanzaa, { & for all you Scrooges out there, a Good "Bah Humbug Day"... ( I think that almost just about covers it all ) }...
As for what I have been up to lately, I'm afraid I have mainly just been hooked on ( addicted to, really ) flickr --- editing & uploading photos, looking at other's photos & making comments, etcetera... Some of my favorite photos are done by a guy named Gary Jones, who has a screen name of "garageowns", who lives in Hove, England, (which is all cozied up with Brighton, on the South Coast there)... ( most of his photos are taken in the Hove/Brighton area, but there are also shots from London & elsewhere, & some from his travels to Cornwall, Florida, & California and so on )
He also has a small circle of friends in the area who also post to flickr on a regular basis, & I have been looking at some of their work, and some of them have been looking at my shots, & so on...
I also managed to look up one of my old good friends from high school on the site and have browsed through some of his photos, made comments, and so forth...
I'm afraid my wife has been having some more problems with her heart condition - just last week, she had a (very minor) stroke while at work, & her co-workers called for the paramedics to take her to the hospital...
She was in the hospital for a few days, and now has been home for a few days as well, and at least she doesn't have to go back to work until next week...
I don't know if it's on account of her heart condition, or on account of the medicines she has to take for it, ( most likely a combination of both ) but she seems even more extra tired than usual lately... She needs a lot of extra rest...

Hello, Everyone... Well, today, my wife and I are getting ready to go over to San Francisco and here a presentation by Rick Steves ( the "Travel Guy" )... A pretty big deal for us - we have been watching his travelogues for years now ( on PBS stations ) - in fact, watching his travelogues ( and some made by others as well ) is about close as we ever come to actually getting to travel to Euroupe, plus we have watched Mr Steves so much we are sort of like Rick Steves "groupies"......

Hello, Desi ( & Everyone! )...
Travelling is fun, but I must confess, I have mostly only daydream-travelled more than anything else throughout my life...
When she was young, my wife's father took her and her mom on car-trips all around the country, but my first real big trip didn't come until I was 23 years old, when one of my uncles took me up to Yosemite...
During the 1990's, my wife & I took a few trips up to Reno ( on Greyhound busses ) & then there were also three trips up to Ashland, Oregon, to go to the Shakespeare Festival - It was my wife, my daughter & my wife's English professor ( who did the driving ) but I had to miss the first trip for work obligations, but I got to go the next two times - those were very nice trips ... - & one trip down to Anaheim to go to Disneyland, which is the furthest south I have ever been ( unfortunately, it wasn't such a good time to go there - it was so over-crowded the first day we were there, they had to close down the fare gates [ after we were already inside, stuck in with those big crowds ] ) Another bummer about the LA / Anaheim trip is that we went down on the "overnight express" Greyhound bus, which went straight through the Sacramento Valley in the dark of night & there was no scenery to be seen ...
In the late summer of 2001, my wife & daughter took a trip to New York City ( going back & forth on AMTRAK ) - unfortunately, I couldn't go along ( I would have loved the train trip across country even more than being in Manhattan, I think ) but again, I had obligations & had to stay behind...
Since then, any trips taken have all been "day trips"... It also seems like it's been getting more & more difficult to even go on those day trips in recent years - we already had a household full of cats when our daughter introduced a dog into the family & then subsequently moved out on her own, & we wound up adopting the dog, ( a very neurotic, "needy" guy, who cannot be left by himself for too long ) so, all in all, it feels like my wife & I have been getting more & more "tied down" & having to stay close to home lately...
I guess if we had a big camper, & could stick the dog, all the cats ( & the two chinchillas - two more adoptees left behind by our daughter ) in it, we could all take off on a road trip!...
( but then, of course, I flunked Driver's Training in high school, & never got my driver's license, & my wife hasn't driven for 27 years, plus she's always said she doesn't feel like she would be able to handle a large vehicle like a camper, anyway, so that's just another pipe dream )...

Greetings!
I just realized that almost 3 seasons have passed since last time I logged in. I'm still here, though. Even while I'm tempted to shoot those eggs... (I'm looking at an advertisement with moving eggs just below the menu bar - not likely that any of you can see this one, as those are usually locally cookied - to add something completely random - and I shot 4 out of 5 eggs just now, I don't want to shoot the fifth and risk to be drawn to whatever site).
Right, so I'm still alive, and currently planning to move out. I'll be leaving my own little town and settle in one of the larger (and most beautiful - to my humble subjective opinion) towns in Belgium, namely, Gent. I already have the key, and coming weekends it's painting, filling with furniture, and dropping myself into it. My plans are to settle officially at the changing of this month. Moreover, as life wasn't complicated enough, my office at work is moving as well. This project is settled on the change of next month to November. Has nothing to do with my own move, though. Furthermore, I'm still doing as I ever was. Still writing. Still drawing from time to time. Still gaming. Still listening to music or watching movies. Still doing something odd at times. Got my old bike repaired, so I can hit the road again to push it to further limits. And still waving hello to friends!
(and just have shot another series of 4 eggs... this game is too easy...)

Androga: Nice to see you again. Moving can be a lot of work, but I think it will be nice to move into a new place especially if it is in a nice town.
I'm glad you are still writing and drawing. Keep at it and someday you will have something you can publish so we can all read it!
I just got an old student flute from a friend at work. I used to play in 3rd and 4th grade but didn't keep up with it as I got into some art classes and was distracted. I am going to try to play the flute again and pulled up the flute fingering charts and have started trying to remember the notes and the finger placement. Very slow and off key right now--I can see this will be a slow process and quite some time before I can toot the flute like Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull!

Yeah, moving is quite some work. But slowly I manage, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. Don't worry, one day I will publish worldwide and be very famous. I'll only need to attract a good translator. My current project is still far from finished though. I do too many different things to go fast, I guess. I can't write for an entire day, even if I'd had absolutely nothing else to do.
I wish you lots of success with your own project. With a bit of practice I'm sure you'll find the right tune. It always seems difficult in the beginning, until you're used to the finger placement. I haven't touched a flute in about a decade and a half, although I could more or less play it, back then.

Hello Everyone...
Not really that much to report on this end... Mainly just been getting more & more wrapped up in that "Flickr" site, taking photos, uploading them, commenting on the work of others, etc...
Otherwise just trying to keep up with taking care of all our animal companions here, & assorted other chores, & the usual TV / DVD watching...
Plus an occasional bit of sketching, although the more photos I take, the less drawing I seem to do...
Anyway, just stopping by to say hi to everyone...
