Vanye, I am sorry to hear of your brother's passing. My prayers are with you. It sounds like he was pretty tuff and stubborn to keep hanging in there. Good for him.
Good for you going on a diet and going to the gym. Exercise is supposed to be good for you. I should do it more than I do!

Vanye - my sympathies on the death of your brother ...
My wife has seen some of her relations die from cancer over the years - ( one of her uncles died from pancreatic cancer ) and one of my aunts died from cancer early this year...
We knew her death had been imminent since late in 2011, as at that time she had just been diagnosed with lung cancer, (which had spread to her brain) but it was still all such a shock, especially as we had just seen her in the summer of 2011 - at her and her husband's 50th wedding anniversary celebration - where she had seemed to be so hale and hearty and perfectly jolly - she had her loving husband and daughters and a young grandson and her hobbies - all seemed well, and at the time, it was...
Not that she had been in the best of health for some time, on account of her having been a very heavy smoker in her younger days, through most of her adult life, in fact - up until about 15 years ago or so, when she developed emphysema ( and had to quit smoking, of course ) ... But after the crisis had been averted and her lung problems had been put under control, she had come into relatively good health - she put on weight, and then with the aid of inhalers and the oxygen tank, she was till able to continue on living a good life up until the onset of the cancer...

Hello Again...
The short of it is that my wife is finally doing much better, for the most part - although up until just recently it was real rough going (after she had returned from the hospital and rehab in October, following the stroke at the beginning of September)...
And actually, in the last half of November, she wound up in the hospital two more times in swift succession, on account of her heart problems ( the second time she had another TIA - the small stroke )
I believe a big part of the reason why she was having so many problems is because they had taken her off of a couple of her medications when she was discharged back in October, and these same meds have now been re-instated, and my wife is much more stabilized now after taking them again...

Hullo, Ardo,
Glad to hear things are improving for your wife, and I hope the stabilization continues. Yeah, with a lot of conditions it can be difficult to get the right medications/ dose levels.
Are the two of you going to be able to get out to see The Hobbit? I'm wondering if I should let a few weeks go by, let the crowds thin out, before seeing it, well, probably just a few days...

Strange weather in these parts...
Lots of sunny days, warmish 60s, then a sudden, rare, 4 inch fall of snow in the valley; and at 6000 feet about 10 inches where we were camped. After two days of "blizzard," a quick thaw and we have retreated from the mountains. Thought of Frodo and gang trying the Redhorn Pass...
Supposed to get a new computer soon -- wife wants a Dell, I want a Mac -- still doing comparison shopping. Need/ want a new machine of some kind, but oddly reluctant to actually hand over the cash...

I hope you packed warm clothing for camping if snow found you!
Wow! How are you going to cope if a Dell wins out over a Mac? But I thought it was going to be YOUR new computer, not your wife's!

Oh yeah, well bundled-up for the weather!
LOL, yeah MY computer. She's looking to save the 400 dollars, and wonders about the emulator package, why buy a Mac if you have to find some way for it to function as a PC for games?
I still like the performance of the Macs better, will most likely go that way...

Is it a safey feature on Macs that they do not work on games? Macs are safer as far as getting viruses are concerned and perhaps that is one of the reasons.

Don't think it is a deliberate safety feature, Macs do work with games, and a number of made-for-mac games do exist, but I guess the Mac share of the computers is still about 10 - 15% of the PC total, so commercial gamers make their games for the most used format? I don't understand any of the following material, but apparently, if you have one of the newer Macs with the right memory capacities etc., there is a program that allows you to play Lotro: lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/LOTRO_under_Linux_and_Mac_OS/X#MacI'll have to see if the Mac sales reps can help me set this up...

Freddy you had it right: "The Fair Folk are ruled by King Eiddileg" in Lloyd Alexander's world…
Fax Fay Faz is Eddison's king of the elves, in The Worm Ouroborus.
Now I can get some sleep!

What have I all been up to lately?...
I have to think... What did I do recently? I checked back to my latest post, last time I said something here on the boards... And went back to 2011. I have been looking once in a (long) while. I never really forgot about TR. Even while I've made myself very difficult to reach. I don't have a social network to show (I quit Facebook since it was wasting my time) and I wonder who would even remember that old e-mail address that I gave so long ago. That's still the same though. Just today, after I don't know how many months, I decided to make another peek in here, only to see the layout has changed again. I noticed that shout box below the home page, and decided, simply, to roar.
I do have to check how to continue in my old housestyle writing, which was blue.
A lot of things have happened to me since 2011... I won't go into detail about that. I keep myself busy, and trying to improve my lifestyle and not wasting (too) much of it in uselessnesses. I'm not even going to explain that new word I'm forming, because, whatever I may consider useless for me, will not necessarily be for you. But... here are some short things I can tell.
I love I write I read I walk I listen I enjoy I watch I travel I talk I smile I taste I work I catch up I live and I say hi to long (but not lost) friends!
Downside of that all is, that I'm less on the web. But still, I just want to say hello.
